Madhuri and Madhubala seem equally talented to me (both madhu's lol) but I seem to find Madhubala a TAD bit better. I mean, she's a classic. People may not have even seen her because she's an old actress but her life is truly fascinating, doing movies with a heart illness, and more (yes, the era was not the era for much versatile-ness. Madhuri is great too, I think somewhat of a modern Madhubala, although there may never be another madhubala. But I love both equally as much and none can be them.

Asha is number 11 in terms of total gross, so not that far away. Also whether a movie is a hit or not depends on the its budget and the money it returns. Say 2 movies A & B. A is made with a low budget, but it grossed enough money to cover it's costs and get some benefit, then it's a hit. Movie B is a high budget movie, and say it collected more money than A, but the gross wasn't enough to cover the whole cost, it won't be considered a hit.

@chloroforo hello, I am very happy to see a devoted madhuri fan. but you also have to understand that during madhubala's era (1950s) the media was not that extensive and same goes with technology. but she was probably the only actress from India at that time to appear in various hollywood magazines as well frank capra when looking at one of her photographs was simply mesmerized by her beauty. Both of them stand tall. Madhubala is an eternal beauty and madhuri is her reincarnation.

@chloroforo You have to look at it this way. Madhubala being an actress from the 50/60s is still in that list and mAdhuri is not even her contemporary. Yet she is still there so Madhubalaji is a much bigger star than Madhuri. She was the only superstar from that era and continues to exist in full swing till today even after her death.

Madhuri and Madhubala seem equally talented to me (both madhu's lol) but I seem to find Madhubala a TAD bit better. I mean, she's a classic. People may not have even seen her because she's an old actress but her life is truly fascinating, doing movies with a heart illness, and more (yes, the era was not the era for much versatile-ness. Madhuri is great too, I think somewhat of a modern Madhubala, although there may never be another madhubala. But I love both equally as much and none can be them.

I don't think there's going to be any actress in the near future or even decade that'll surpass Hema. Heck I don't see any of the actresses now even getting where Madhuri is to start with, and that's like 2/3 of Hema's total gross. Maybe Ash if she managed to pull a blockbuster that grosses as much as she her total gross since she started acting! I think it's most unlikely. Asha is number 11 in terms of total gross, so not that far away. Also whether a movie is a hit or not depends on the its budget and the money it returns. Say 2 movies A & B. A is made with a low budget, but it grossed enough money to cover it's costs and get some benefit, then it's a hit. Movie B is a high budget movie, and say it collected more money than A, but the gross wasn't enough to cover the whole cost, it won't be considered a hit.

As for dancing, Madhubala's dance in pyar kiya to darna kiya is DECENT. Madhuri is a much better dancerand Vyjayanthi is WAY better.
As for Ash, she's pretty and can dance, but still hasn't proved herself to be as good as the older queens of bollywood. Who cares if she got into hollywood or not. Media is much better now and people can know things happening anywhere. Haifa Wehbe (lebanese singer) is like te most famous Arabic singer, yet I consider her to be complete garbage! fame =\= good.

This is unfair. Comparing Madhuri to Madhubala was an insult. Madhubala was a true legend which cannot be compared to anyone. Even Madhuri also respect and adore Madhubala. I do not understand why people comparing those two? Aish is still have long way to reach what Madhuri has done and even Aish also said in one of her interviews that she's really adore Madhuri and wants to put herself in the same league with Madhuri. Even Aish also respect Madhuri as her senior.

Agreed, Janingrigory. :) You're right, everyone has their own taste. I liked Parveen more than Zeenat, maybe because she reminds me of a relative of mine. But Hema was my alltime favourite. I adored her as a child, lol! I especially liked her movies when she was paired with Dharmendra, my alltime favourite hero! Raja Jaani, Tum Haseen Main Jawan, Jugnu, Charas, etc. But my most favourite Hema movie is Seeta aur Geeta! :)

Hey Janingrigory, I agree, Parveen was not a classical beauty, she was more a glamour doll like Katrina and most of today's actresses. If Aish would have been more down to earth and simple, I would easily agree that she is a classical beauty too, but her personality turns me off. Classical beauty is a complete package; apart from the extraordinary gorgeous looks, it takes the special shining light of the warm personality to make one divinely beautiful.

Just one more thing (not that I owe you an explanation, but to enlighten your dumb brain): I visited this video, because I'm a Madhuri fan, and I was curious about Madhubala. I acknowledge that Madhubala is considered a legend, I just don't agree that she is that extraordinary, but then again, I haven't seen any of her movies yet. That's my opinion, but I'm not forcing it down your throat.
