  • I say we go back to swords in for the remainder of 2012 and onwards!

  • What happened to the English, we became so self righteous and called other people of the world "barbarians" just like our roman enemies said to our celtic ancestors

  • @loolfactorie your ancestors may have been "Celtic" but the latest DNA evidence shows that most of our ancestors were from Friesland, Denmark(Angles, Jutes, and later Danes) and North Germany(Saxons). Quite a few Scots have the same ancestry too!

  • @loolfactorie We Americans are far more guilty of such things than those of you living in the UK (or Europe in general). Of course, many European and European descended nations idolize Rome and Greece and neglect the Germans and Celts most of us are descended from. We call them barbaric and primitive, when in fact they were quite intelligent and had very interesting, and significant, cultures. That also applies to the modern sense where we call certain groups "savages." Tis a shame

  • Lovely. I would have said basic or spartan as opposed to primitive when describing the facilities. Some of us prize a nearly monastic utilitarian forge for both practical and mythic reasons.

  • Damn... I want one.. :D

  • that is a beautiful weapon

  • WOW 1500 individual pieces of steel!

  • i like the Hot sign on the Furnace at 1:12 XD

  • wow

  • i want me one.. damn thats impressive. what a craftmanship

  • how much do these swords cost? without it being an artifact? or like those rare ones

  • @fatguyanthony Bob Kramer, another bladesmith to pass the American Bladesmith Society's strict requirements to be a Master Bladesmith, has charged $300 per inch for custom knives, and can't keep up with demand. Similar patterning as shown here.

  • @Roark3000 o holy shit... but i wouldn't put a price on something this beautiful u know? but thanks a lot for the info. i gotta start saving for this super expensive decoration hahaha

  • THUMBS UP IF YOUR ANSCESTORS WERE SAXONS!

  • @theblacksheep1000 wtfbbqlol

  • Hm, i'll need to remember that technic.

  • cool

  • Take notes! Take notes! SKYRIM is almost out!!

  • donald sutherland

  • isn't that awesome!?

  • How much?

  • primitive? the old way of making swords still creats better looking and stronger blade then the fake mass produced ones, i see many fake ones break but hand made are still strong and good shape

  • @XxModernDayRaiderxX I'm quite sure if we ever need swords and spears we can mass produce them as shown above. And isn't it obvious a fake one wouldn't be as strong as a real sword? One meant to stab and slice open men's flesh.

  • @XxModernDayRaiderxX I'm pretty sure that they meant that they had primitive means to make the swords, not that the swords they made were useless and primitive. For example the folding and hammering parts would have been done by a couple of men bashing at the metal (primitive) and not a machine with 10 times their efficiency(non-primitive).

Also the reason the modern mass produced "swords" breaks easily is because they are NOT made the same way as the real ones and therefore are more fragile

  • @Czed93 Forge iron is no where near as strong as stainless steel. But most replicas are made out of aluminum and zinc alloy or other lighter alloy instead.

  • @mercedescl think you missed the point.... gravely...

  • SAXON HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALE

  • and the camera man was never seen or heard from again.

  • I thought this video said "saxophone sword"

  • WOW !

  • That is awesome

  • I actually misread it as Saxton Sword...

    Hale would've been proud.

  • A beard that impressive must be a fire hazard.

  • It would have been nice to see the end product

  • exageration.

  • Normaly I am not Nationalistic, but damm, its cool to have such a badass heritage

  • @max465t You're a Saxon? Where is that nation located?

  • @ChristopherJManess north central Germany, in the states of Saxony and Lower Saxony

  • @max465t I'm mixed with different "heritage", which is part Deutsch from the Braun family. It seems silly to me for modern-day Europeans to claim this or that, because of the mix of "heritage" across the board. I am also mixed with Italiano, Albannaich, Gaeilge, Nederlands, Aniyunwiyah, Français and English. Commonly, I'm human. Mensch oder so. Why is heritage such an important thing to Europeans? Ich finde es ignorant.

  • @ChristopherJManess yes yes i know. as I said, i am normally not nationalistic. it does not make sense to be proud of something that you did not yourself have anything to do with it. saying "man im proud to be german" doesn't make any sense because i did not do shit to become german, i was just born here. However, it is cool to know that somewhere, sometime, one of my fathers fathers father father (etc) was a Saxon, and that is pretty cool. I´m not saying I am better than anyone else.

  • @max465t Every part of humanity is connected to another. I love finding those connections! The sword making of Europe is why Cortez conquered the "New World". It's just as captivating as frightening to see how our ancestors made history. I wonder how much those swords cost, today.

  • @ChristopherJManess In Transylvania there still are a few Saxons.

  • @max465t YES IT'S AWESOME TO HAVE ANCESTORS THAT USED TO MASSACRE PEOPLE. Bad-ass.

  • @wintersnoob well all of human history has its roots in some form of massacre or the other. And the Saxons didnt just massacre people endlessly, they were also craftsmen, and produced beautiful golden jewelry, which they traded with tribes all over Europe. They were great metal workers ( i would imagine that is something that you would take away from this video). in fact if you are so against bloodshed in ancient times, you should do a little research on the roman empire.

  • @max465t I know of the massacres...but you look proud of that. I'm not proud of the Roman Empire and they were far more developed and civilized(also contributed more to history) than the saxons. Even though they are not from the same era.

  • @wintersnoob - Well the Saxons (and their Angle kin) did offer a few contributions to history. The language you're typing; the Industrial Revolution; the development of modern processing computers and the World Wide Web. Without those, your post wouldn't exist.

  • @adventussaxonum Industrial Revolution? World Wide Web? Computers? What are you even talking about. Well if it is so to follow year example then I must say that the Homo Habilis species was in influence to whatever you are eating for dinner.

  • @max465t True

  • @max465t yes because being proud of your ancestors is considered to be nationalism, right?

Stupid jackass. Why did you drop school?

  • @max465t It is an awesome and ancient tradition. Not really nationalistic, just appreciation. It's an insanely cool technique.

  • Discovery or Nat'l Geographic? Me chose the latter.

  • Not bad at all, considering the tech of the Dark Ages.

  • World Of Warcraft HERE I COME... wait....SKYRIM HERE I COME!!!

  • @jfo27 yeah! skyrim and skyward sword will be awesome!!!!! :D

  • @jfo27 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
