i think its in peoples make up, some draw inspiration internally whilst others need to source it externally. It doesnt mean that they are hot happy they just get their enjoyment in otherways. For some people being alone becomes a depression in and of itself. I had a roommate who didn't like himself but he was too scared to socialize. But for others, like you say, it becomes an addiction. If you're not sure whether you like yourself, then you probably don't.
