  • I just hooked my 42" Vizio 1080p LCD to my computer, but I have like a one inch black strip at the bottom of the screen that won't go away.

The resolution is the highest, and if I lower it the strp still does not go away.

Doesn't look like you have this problem...

Did you fix it or did it just work for you?

I tried lowering the position of my screen but my windows taskbar just goes behind the black strip.

  • @zeropatience23 What are your PC stats? I can help you.

  • @roadrunner197069

what do you mean by PC stats?

    I am running Windows 7(64-bit)

    1 TB of Hard Drive

    4 Gigs of RAM

    Intel i5 quad-core cpu

    and a Nvidia GTX 260

if that's what you mean by stats lol

  • @zeropatience23

My email, msn, yahoo messenger is my youtube user name with @yahoo.com added, download teamviewer client, and I can help you get this fixed.

  • You can hook up any computer to a TV as long as it has VGA or HDMI inputs.

  • You can do this with any tv with the right inputs, DUH!

  • @szor1

No shit Sherlock. You really felt the need to state the obvious???????????

  • @Filnizer No, you get a graphics card with HDMI input. VGA is only up to 1080i.

  • do you notice any lag? Many TV's have lag

  • @Filnizer VGA is capable of alot higher resolution the regular 1080p resolution.

  • I have the same tv, how did u connect the tv to the laptop? did u use RGB cable?

  • @mplsridah

Its not hooked to a laptop, but a vga cable will work fine.

  • NOT ENOUGH CONTRAST!!!

  • What video card are you using? Do you play anytype of pc games with this monitor?

  • ATI 4870, Yes I play games.

  • I thought this was a hd tv. Not a Monitor?

  • It is a HDTV, but it can be used as a monitor.

  • are you streaming the dvd's from netflix or are those ripped?

  • when are Video Cards in PC's turning to HDMI? would make gaming more clearer and also a bunch easier as there are no screws etc... can you do a hd version of this clip would present your tv in a much better light or eve do a review also to show the tv's true capability.

  • VERRY GOOD FANTASTIC TV LCD

  • hahaha cool my uncle has a custum media comp with 5 tb mem. and on a 50 inch.

  • how much does something like that cost? im thinking of building an HTPC for this t.v. if i get one

  • around 1200

  • And I thought I got a big monitor when I switched to 22".

  • Got it, thanks! so you have not considered using RCA at all. I will give the mini to mini connection a try. thx

  • You cant use video from one channel like HDMI, and use sound from RCA cause its its vid1. You got to use audio and video from the same channel.

  • Hello! Great setup! I have the same tv but although I was able to get the video signal through DVI-HDMI I was NEVER able to get the sound from the PC to the Vizio! How did you do you that? Did you use the RCA L/R next to HDMI and then a Y adapter to mini to your PC? Please let me know how you got the sound to work, I'd appreciate it! thx

  • Theres a PC audio port next to the VGA port. Run line out to line in. Or get a Video card that has true HDMI and run it that way.

I run on VGA because I didn't like the look of text on Full resolution. I have a better PC in my PC room maybe I'll experiment with it.

  • i have that tv

  • nice i just bought that tv at Costco for $680 after sales tax and california e waste tax. Awesome tv!!!

  • damn 42 is a lot bigger then i thought!

  • you're so lucky, I'm still stuck with shitty CRT monitors

  • I just bought this T.V today & hooked it up with an S video cable. I just can't seem to get the resolution to look good when its on the desktop or a browser window is open.. How'd you get it to be good resolution???

  • S-video is analog, you need digital.

    I use VGA, or HDMI.

Svideo cant go full 1080p size without loosing quality.

  • Thanks man. Im buying a longer vga cord tomorrow. I'm gonna post a video of my T.V tomorrow to.

  • if you have a DVI connection then buy a DVi to HDMI cable

  • Fuck yeah. Its what I got. I'll post my video tomorrow of my 42"

  • right click ur desk top,choose personalize,then apearance,enjoy

  • 42" is lame dude, i have projector, so my screen is bigger than you'rs even when its on min zoom.but when its at its full 300" size its still not bigger than you'r head.

  • Good for you. You want a cookie? Have fun watching your CRAPPY Projector at 720p resolutions in daylight, lol. I could buy a $400 projecter to if I really wanted to.

    Atleast mine is usable 24/7.

  • hahahhahha i agree

  • I'm using the 32" with a vga but the color is a little fucked up.

any tips? I tried different resolutions but that seems to make no dif. besided the resolution looks good, just the colorss are off

  • it depends on how ur pc is puting out the quality.u might need 2 upgrade 2 a better outout from ur pc.the tv is doin fine though

  • change the contrast brightness ect even thou i dont have vizio i work with the settings of my hdtv is emesrson 32 in with hdmi not vga vga color is not that good

  • i do the same but on my mac. its so cool.

  • Do it, and i will send you a pic of my 42" Vizio running on my Uber Intel Core i7 build.

I will also put something besides a computer desk in for reference, since you seem to think they make 28" computer desks.

Anyone that cant tell a TV is spanning accross a entire desk and calls it 28" isn't to bright at all.

  • Ok Retard. Since when do they make a 24" Computer desk? You can clearly see the desk you idiot. The keyboard is also 20". You win the idiot of the day prize.

  • that aint no 42, maybe a 28 or somthing

  • Retard. Look at the desk.

  • retard, go to the zoo, ur a liar

  • Your so blind from your utter jealousy, you cant even tell the facts. A 28" dont span accross a hole desk.

Have fun on your 15" CT to jealous child. Ask your mommy for a 42" if you want one that bad.

  • hey dud .. can u show me or tell me what connection/cable u used? s-video or rgb?

im planning to do the same. thanks!

  • wtf dats not 42" my tv is a vizio 42" and its like 3 times bigger dan dat no lie dat monitor is a 24"inch

  • cool background....DAH!!!!

  • If you have to do normal work on there you have to sit way back.
