  • damn, I want that bass. sounds so great... when I earn enough money - I'll buy it, no doubt.

    btw - nice playin' =)

  • @brbcrow thanks :)

  • Try less noodling and more toodling.

  • sounds so smooth...

  • 1:08 bless you :)

  • You are way better than me in slap. And it sounds great!

  • Great playing........ I have the same bass...... mid 90's Korean also. I bought mine about 12-13 years ago in a pawn shop for $275 with a hard case. It was in new condition with all plastic protective covering still on it. The best deal I've ever had. These are great basses. I had an EB Stingray for a while but sold it for the money and kept the Ibanez.

  • Good deal man ... they are very nice ... the only drawback is the weight ... haha ... a good reason to stay in shape to hold the thing up. :) Yeah, I've read about them being compared to a stingray (sort of), but I've never played one of those ... so I can't compare personally...

    thanks for the comment.

  • do the indonesian atk's have any less quality than the older models do?

  • sweet playin dude!

  • great tone what kind of strings are you using and what amp thanks

  • Comment removed

  • is it japanese?

  • mid 90's korean model

  • wow completely awesome!

  • For a bit there, your playing reminded me of Les Claypool. The combo of slap and chords was very much in his style.

  • u just made my ears happy. thanks

  • you're welcome ... :)

  • Your very skilled.... Not much more to say. Btw Skitsmiller, no offence, is an ass

  • Thanks, no offense taken ... lol ... btw, I don't usually respond to ignorant people like I did with old skits, I usually just delete and block, but he caught me on a bad day and my tolerance was down for "jazz experts" who like criticize other's playing :)

  • I see... Also just want to ask if you got any tips..... Like for how you noodle, just reply if you can help thanks

  • Wow, what a hard question, (how do I noodle) probably the hardest I ever had ... lol! Well, all I can say is, I like to sit down and play, make some noise, WITHOUT worrying about any specific techniques or trying to be as good as this player or that player, just do my own thing, I've always done that more or less. You know what I'm saying ... kinda like do what you can, don't get discouraged, and don't compare yourself to others. Not many are going to play like Wooten anyway... hahaha.

  • Thanks man thats all i need to know

  • Never knew an Ibanez bass could be so awesome. Awesome.

  • Hey, nothing wrong with ibanez basses. Some of them suck, that's true ... but that can happen with any brand, I love classic fender basses for instance but some of them suck as bad as any lemon ... IMO.

  • That's true, I've heard some horrible fender basses before. I have an Ibanez (the cheap GSR200 bass) and it's not bad for the price, but it's nothing compared to that bass.

  • welcome in the world of the ATK:D

  • Whats your EQ like man? And what pup switch position do you use the most? Lately Ive found myself boostin amp mids and on board bass, with Trad, I love that thumpy fat ass sound!

  • ahhh man, I'm always fiddling with the switch ... I don't have a fave position. Actually, on the atk ... I like the mid tone turned almost off and the bass up high and the treble about 1/2 way ... there's something about the mid knob tone that bugs me, but that's just me though ... I like a nice round tone with a bit of treble edge, but not too much nasal mid range. Preferences ... :P

  • Yeah, me too, i leave the mids to my amp, since it has hi and lo mids.

And Ive narrowd my next bass to the Koa atk, or a NS Design WAV Upright, its the cheaper version of the kind les claypool plays, dunno if youve seen it, man its a toughie!

  • wow! That's cool, I just looked it up ... i see it's about $900 at musician's friend. I think I'd love to have one of those too, to mess around with! :) Good idea!

  • I know! Id be so much fun!

And I was wondering if I can please steal "Noodleing" and perhaps "Toodleing" from you, cause they are way better at describe the way I play better then "Jamming" or something like that

  • Of course, take it, just leave the "e" out of toodling or noodling ... LOL! Hey, I noticed a few other players calling it noodling ... I wonder if they stole it ... NAH! HAHA toodling on the other hand ... ??

  • Yes Sir, I will drop the "E"!

You should be getting royalites from them! I can best some knee caps if they dont cooperate =P

And have you heard of the LRRGS?

  • lol ... ok!! Hey I just checked out your profile ... haha ... I have now ... very cool bro! :D Hey, that's where I do most of my playing too ... the old livin' room.

  • Sounds great Puds~ I love your style, and today for some reason while listening to you Colin Hodgkinson(sp?) came to mind..

    Keep em' comin Puds!

    high*****

  • haha ... Danny boy!! I just looked Colin Hodgkinson up ... wow, thanks! Ya know, I'd never heard of him, this is a first for me! I guess he was overlooked, lol! Great player. Well, thank you for that ... indeed, I haven't heard too many bass players that sound like him. Ahh well, we're all different eh ... variety is thine spice of life! lol ... have another drink puds! :D Thanks man!

  • And I'll have another drink with ya'! You certainly have your "Pudsy Signature" and dynamite variety of flavors man,

"Variety is thine spice of life".. I like that!

Colin Hodgkinson was the bass player for the Jan Hammer Group when Hammer was touring sometime around 1978-79 and he was on the 'Black Sheep' album ( Which has the best rock keyboard soloing I've ever heard!) and the next album they did, forget the name.. Yeah man jam on!

    :)

  • ahhh ... thanks for the history ... I see he played with some names I recognize spencer davis group, whitesnake, alexis korner ... veddy interesting ... I've been watching some of his vids here on YouTube, kinda got me inspired to go looking for a pick and give it a try again, different sound, different style. I'll check out this Jan Hammer Group now too ... gotta hear this keyboard you're talkin' bout!! Thanks Dan.

  • Hmmmm you could play longest 2:54. Thats the greatest part for me. Like the blues picking and the funky slap at the end..

Put that funky slap of the end "" on your next video i really really like it !!!!

  • hey steven ... my newest vid is "sort of" of version of that last slap line ... (slowed down a bit I guess) whatever ... I hope you enjoy it, thanks for commenting on my vids man. :)

  • How long you been playing Puds?

And have you ever played an ATK besides the 300 and 300FL? I really want an 750 Koa topped one, or a 400, but thems hard to find =[

  • Oh 30 years on and off, give or take tsup ... no ... haven't tried the other ATK's they must be quite similar, don't ya think? The koa does look nice and has a neck pup too doesn't it ... that would certainly give you some more tone options I would think.

  • I was just looking at a 750 on eBay with the koa top ... oh man .. they want $750 for it ... not too bad ... it's some beautiful. I'd like to have it too!

  • Yeah! thats the one I want! ILL FIGHT YOU FOR IT!!

Not really, i dont have enough $ for it anyway, yeah, its got a 5-way selector, and Id put Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in it, mmm.

  • You and The Bass Sound Great!!!You Got that Slap and pop Down Pretty Good!!!

  • thanks Carl! :D

  • 1:11 Yeah !

  • I was actually thinking about buying one of those.

  • the ashdown or the atk? :)

  • The Ashdown.

  • Ok ... well I'm pretty impressed with ashdown and not crazy priced like the ampeg cabinets I was considering. It seems to work well, nice and punchy with lots of clarity, a huge step above my ancient peavey cabinets ... IMO. It can take a huge amount of watts too without distorting at all.

  • whoa that was sick!

  • I didn't know you had an ashdown! Cool!

  • hey moo, good to see you ... I've had it since last Spring I guess ... I really like it! I'm actually enjoying playing some basses I don't pick up that much, just because of how much the 410 ashdown has improved the tone over my old peavey stuff. Anyway ... recommended!
