This was amazing!!! Great great job. I do have to say that at one point I was laughing because I said to myself, "Hahahaa, that tambourine is bigger than she is!" Anyways, she some how made this overly danced variation look interesting! She didn't dance it to show off or anything stupied like that, she was very soft, well put together and very elengant! That hard to do with the Esmeralda variation because all it consites of is turns and high leg kicks!...Again, GREAT GREAT JOB! :)
This is fantastic, Osipova is my favorite, but she's close. I noticed everyone commenting on the large tambourine though, but it is more practical within this variation. I am performing the role of Esmeralda, including this variation. When I first learned the variation, the series of kicks was difficult with a small tam. There's a learning curve to it, oftentimes one hits the top of the foot with the metal rim of the tam. Not fun and quite painful when repeated. No trouble with a larger tam.
almost everything is good, but the way she handles the tambourine is awful, she slaps it on her hands and her foot like she's slapping mosquitoes. more subtility would greatly add to the variation. in all, very good!!
but the most amazing thing about it is how perfectly she is on the music! just like every dancer /should/ be. :))) how old is she, does anybody know? THanks!
i didnt like how she sometimes wasnt on the music with the tamborine (and u can really hear that) and how much you could see her think about the movement while she was dancing ... but good job dance-wise ... her technique is great, but that wasnt my fav esmeralda performance ...
Love this girl. She is so talented, she is really going places. And she doesn't dance like robot like so many of the competition ballet kids out there.
SHE IS AMAZING but if i HAD to give her one correction it would be that in the section where she does the repeated relevées while hitting the tambourine to the front, she got a little off the music... and when you're hitting the tambourine its really noticable... but overall YOU ARE COMPLETELY FANTASTICALLY WONDERFUL!
Y'know, I always get sick of watching the Esmeralda variation, it's so frequently used at competitions just so girls can show off their insane flexibilty. But, I can honestly say, Emily's esmeralda is now my favorite alongside Natalia Osipova's. She doesn't do the striking effect like Osipova, but has a completely opposite perspective and completes each movement with a soft flirty touch. Amazinggg artisty. I absolutely LOVE IT!! BRAVA!!!!! :D
@Roccarocks i agreed with you esmeralda variation is like the perfect showcase for gymnastics tricks but there is needed quite more to make it big and even she fall of rithem quicking the tambourine i completley fall in love with this osipovas and this are my favorites esmeraldas
@Roccarocks - I agree - this is hands down the most tacky variation ever conceived. I noticed that everyone uses Richard Bonynge's recording from the CD "Pas de deux" & slows it down to an insane degree. Funny enough, the music isn't really from the complete "La Esmeralda" anyway, & the choreography isn't by Petipa, but by Ben Stevenson, when he created it for the Jackson MS competition in 1982.
Isabel is her former teacher. She's been studying with Edward Ellison in NYC for the past 2 years. He prepared her for YAGP and the Moscow competitions.
