  • This is the New Jersey Mass Choir under the direction of Rev. Donnie R. Harper who is the 2nd soloist on this video. The 1st soloist is Donald Malloy and the young lady who sings on this song is Sherry McGhee. The did the background vocals for "Foreigner's" recording and were in the songs video. They later recorded this version of the song on their own album entitled "I Want To Know What Love Is."

  • I love this song! Still all these many years later!

  • Foreigner is a tremendous band with an all time great lead vocalist. They sang this song and it hit # 1 on the charts! Nobody can ever reproduce a Lou Gramm song. All that being said....... This was terrific. It was a tremendous version. I loved it. My hats off to you! Thank you!

  • Without question I believe this is the best version.

  • Even with the bad audio, I can tell that choir is tearing this song up!

  • A stunning version of Foriegner's hit single. Both the original and this version are the best I have ever heard.

  • Hey! This is the same choir that sang in foreigner's version! So it is no wonder that you think this version is rocking too :)

  • Actually a new album is in the works. I'm not sure when it will be completed. Uncle Donnie is always so busy. Let me ask my mom. She'd know better than me.

  • Thanks so much for replying, Please let me know when the new album is out

Are they doing any performances soon? I would love to see them, I missed them in the 80's but it would really be a dream come true to see them perform live.

  • It is great to see the choir that was on the original version by Foreigner. God Bless the New Jersey Mass Choir!

  • I believe you are talking about Will Pryor, he's the one that is carrying the steel beam. Mr. Pryor was a very good friend of mine and I regret to tell you that he passed away a number of years ago.

  • Does Anyone know if Michael Pryor is still in the choir? I was one of his students at John Marshall school 20 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

(My name is Tyrone Johnson) I was looking over my employees shoulder and saw he was viewing NJ Mass Choir.

If anyone knows MR. Pryor Have Him call me at

    419-566-6247 (Tyrone Johnson)

Mr.Pryor was the one in the forienger video wearing the black cap carrying the steel beam.

seeing him (my teacher then ) inspired me

I now run a record label thanx 2 him

  • NJ mass choir, one of the best in the 80's. This is a classic piece by a classic choir. Thanks for sharing!

  • The soloist is Sherrie Mecghee who sings background vocals for Donnie Mcclurkin

  • Anyone know if there is a studio version out on CD somewhere?

  • I have the version of this song on CD. From the album New Jersey Mass Choir Live At The Ritz on Savoy Records.

  • Was the great Texan, Ms Jennifer Holiday the female vocal on this song?

  • Jennifer Holiday was the female vocal on the Foreigner/NJMC version of this song. Sherry McGee was the female vocal with the NJMC by themselves.

  • Did they record this themselves prior to hooking up with Foreigner in 1985?

  • No. They recorded their version a short time after they recorded it with Foreigner. I think recorded it in 1986.
