@NickIsDaBomb27 I'm really pleased with mine. Do not trust the reviews that all looked at the AMD models. The version of the i3 they use in this one has two cores and four threads, and way more on-chip cache--thus making it a completely different beast. For kids, of course, the AMD should suffice. This computer just feels really durable. Gonna put in a 7mm SSD and this thing will hum. As per usual with lenovo, linux supports all the devices/hardware
Well looks like an excellent competitor to the MacBook Air. Few companies have been able to put out a laptop that's truly comparable to the Air, but this one (though it is really thick), has close enough specs, is incredibly tough, and is half the price of the base MBA.
I'm bit worried that you continue to use type of hinge with the screen on these smaller notebooks/laptops/whatevers that prevent using 9-cell batteries that extended from the back. I don't like the larger batteries that make it much more bulky and thicker. I like to have my laptop low-profile.
@ANTRASPS3 all thinkpads are extremely rugged, but this one in particular is super rugged. The X series as well as the T series have long been considered the most rugged. The X series is used for thin and light books with new and somewhat experimental features or additions to them. The X series throughout history has usually had at least 1 extremely rugged (x130e), tablet (X220t), thin and light (X220), and thin, light, but also very powerful (X1). The X is the 2nd most popular series behind T
Hey, I was wondering what the release date for this really is, because many online articles claimed that the x130e will be released on the 20th of December (that's two days from now), but the Lenovo website actually says coming February 2012. Has Lenovo set back the release date? I'm wondering because I am looking to purchase this before Christmas, if possible.
@LenovoVision My SL410 has recently had it's 5th month of use in an 18-wheeler. I'm still impressed with how well ThinkPad performs and survives- even in the near-constant vibration of an over-the-road truck. Because of this experience I'm now looking at purchasing ThinkPads for the other members of my family sometime in 2012 and the X130e would be a great choice for them.
BTW, I wish the ThinkPad brand a happy 20th Birthday in 2012. Time flies when you have fun and make such a good product!
@thrasherhtpw We always say "don't try this at home" and we mean it! But we also know you'll abuse your ThinkPad plenty by accident. So we do the 8 different angles for drop test, hinge test 30,000 times! This one's a beast, a tank.
@LenovoVision I will never buy anything but a thinkpad. There have been too many laptop killing accidents that my thinkpad has survived. I have spilled water on it, dropped it on hard wood floor of the bed many times. The only damage my thinkpad has is the battery has a small crack in that happened 2 weeks after I bought it. The battery hit the desk when I pulled it out of my bookbag.
I have had many students comment how well my laptop has held up in three years of college.
@LenovoVision well i broke my hinges because i used to carry the laptop while holding only the tope edge of the screen. please update your tests :) Still I plan to buy my third thinkpad very soon.

The best thing about it for me is that is has a Trackpoint with proper buttons underneath,
a much better interface than a trackpad. The rubber bumper is a great idea and adds to the reliability. Not just kids drop stuff :)
When is it coming out in Europe ?

Love it lenovo. I have an X200 Tablet, and I have dropped it many times, and it doesn't have a single problem.
