  • Hi.. Nice Vid .. Did you benchmark this with 8gb of ram? could you post the link ?

    Thanks..

  • Would it make a good gaming pc for games like battlefield 3 and mw3 at high settings?

  • @MrJackAVFC MW3 maybe, but get an imac for BF3.

  • You helped me make up my mind, I think I'll be treating myself for my birthday by getting one of these :)

  • Can we see how well games play on that model?

  • Great video, very informative. Keep up the great vids. I'm saving up for this now.

  • I've seen some geekbench score of the i7 2,7 and they were 7000 and a bit. How is it possible that your i5 has a higher score?

  • @Groovyliciouss The i7 has a shared graphics card I believe... The 2.5 i5 has a dedicated one so that would give it a better score, the i7 with 8gb of ram & the dedicated card would be an amazing score! I'd say you'll be looking at about 8000 :)

  • @07SHeP Mac mini Server with QUAD Core i7 scores almost 10000

  • browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/457398

  • @07SHeP No you're totally wrong :) The i52,5 and the i7 2,7 have both decicated graphics. Only the 2,3 i5 and the i7 quad2,0 have shared memory with the diiference that the i5 has 288MB shared and the quad i7 has 384Mb shared. You can see this info at apple.com

  • @Groovyliciouss I have just looked on Apple and I can see the i7 comes with the Intel HD Graphics 3000. and the i5 comes with the AMD Radeon HD 6630M so I'm not wrong... Take another look, the 2.3 i5 and the 2.0 i7 both used shared memory, the 2.5 i5 is the only one with a dedicated graphics card!

  • @07SHeP Nope, your wring again. The i7 QUAD 2.0 Ghz and the i5 2.3 Ghz have both shared memory. Only the i5 2,5 Ghz and i7 2.7Ghz have dedicated memory. read my previous post again and you'll see that it's correct.

  • @Groovyliciouss Oh wait, yes you are correct, but that's not a default choice... That's after configuration...

Also adding $100 to the price, I was talking about the Default choices of the 2.3 i5 the 2.5 i5 and the 2.0 i7.

The only one with the dedicated graphics card from the default choices is the 2.3 i5. You can only configure your machine via the Apple store. If you wanted to purchase an MacMini somewhere else the 2.3 i5 would be the best choice.

  • @07SHeP Don't you mean the 2.5 i5?

  • Ya, How does this do at video editing, like after affects and stuff

  • @xSmiggle It is good, but I would not want to use it full time for this.

  • Hey, hows does this mac do at video editing? thanks.

  • I have a nice 32inch full 1080p HDTV. Could i just hook up the mac mini with a standard hdmi to hdmi cable that I use on like video games?

  • @KevGSniping You could, in fact that is what I have done with mine. Fine for watching videos, not very good for work, text is fuzzy.

  • @davomrmac ok so how should i hook it up on my tv? Because im looking to websurf, game and watch movies.

  • @KevGSniping It will be fine for those tasks, just the pixel density is not good enough for close up work, like word processing etc.

  • @davomrmac so ill be able to game, watch movies and websurf such as forums, youtube ect?

  • @KevGSniping Yes, just be prepared for slightly fuzzy text if you sit close up.

  • @davomrmac ok this is my last comment because I hate to bother you, Im going to be sitting on my bed 4-5 feet away, so do you think text will be nice at that distance?

  • @KevGSniping At that distance it'll be fine.

  • @davomrmac TYSM I know what i'm getting for christmas this year!

  • You know I'll probably get this, next year, but I'll definitely keep up about it :)

  • Can't wait for your next video. Please show us some HD video playback samples :)

  • Awesome Thx Dave..

  • Dave... You mentioned it should handle video processing pretty well.. Have you tired it?.. Maybe a worth option for me.. Currently considering an entry level iMac..

  • @MichaelDee360 Yes it is reasonable with FCPX, much better than my previous 3.06 24 inch iMac.

  • The new mac mini 2011 2.5GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, does it use sata 3 or sata 6 for the hard drive? Please let me know, because if it's sata 6, you can use the new OCZ Vertex 3 SSD.

  • Cool little machine, but ill stick to my gaming pc :)

  • does the geekbench score increase if you put in a SSD?

  • @zinumf It should make a big difference.

  • show us the fullscreen mode in safari

  • Could you please run a benchmark using Cinebench as that will show the graphics/cpu performance

  • There's no way that 2.5 Ghz dual core i5 with an AMD Radeon HD 6630 256 MB beat an 2.5 GHz quad core i5 With an AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB

  • Just got mine ,thanx for the heads up on Benchmark...can't wait to set up.

  • Can you show us how to install a second hd or ssd in the Mac mini. Please!

  • you are comparing with 32bit geekbench iMac scores, base model 2011 iMac gets a 8000 score (64bit) faster than 2.5Ghz mac mini...

  • Great Video.Mac Mini's are beast now. Amazing, might get one shortly!!!

  • Better than my 21.5 inch imac. Sad face.

  • i want to get one of these.

  • ffs..i wanna see the proformance of the cheapest one, macs r expensive.

  • can you buy me one ?

  • Does anyone use a Mini via HDMI to a FullHD HDTV at 1080p as a monitor? I can only find people using them in the front room, just wanna know if the desktop is clear or slightly pixelated, I wanna use it on a 32" LG? Thanks

  • @g00nerUK I am doing exactly that and textvis awful from close up. From a distance it is fine.

  • @g00nerUK I use a 2010 Mac Mini and have the HDMI plugged into my 24 inch Samsung Monitor with 1080p. No problems at all... it looks fantastic! My screen is a monitor, not a TV, so maybe that's why some people have pixilation issues? I also use this screen for my PS3 and HD Cable.... looks great all the way around.

  • Excellent review, thanks bud.

  • Are the mac mini as good as the imac now?

  • @PirateMatt12 Nope. iMacs still have beefier CPU's a and GPU's.

  • Will buying this Mac Mini (but with the i7 processor) in a couple of weeks! Excited!!

  • Better than my 2011 iMac? Damn...

  • @Sappily yep it beats some of the iMacs ;)

  • Damn... Mac mini's are pretty beast now! Good video mate

  • @LaczupakabraPL Thanks, I am amazed at the performance.

  • Awesome

  • @AppMagnet thanks.

  • Wow, very impressive. Even better with 8gb of RAM. Considering selling my 2010 iMac for one.

  • @Mookinator98 it rocks, so quiet too.

  • Nice Specs :)

  • @luismacintosh Thanks, well pleased.

  • are the memory tests in geekbench to do with ram or HD because if its HD how did the mini beat the air in every memory test despite the SSD in the air

  • @N1ghtv1s1on360 Faster processor.

  • @amaturefilms97 I know, this is my first time saying first LOL.

  • That was fast.

  • @Mezzid Thanks.

  • Second great video :).

  • FIRST!
