also to make the ipod back to its original operating system you hold down the middle button and the menu button until it resets and right as you see the apple you lock the ipod and then it changes back. :) tested 10-10 times is worked

these guys do a terrible job covering rockbox. First of all, don't use an ipod. They're designed to be obsolete. Use a player such as the sansa fuze, which has memory expansion slots. Thanks to the great people at rockbox, it'll be upward compatible with micro sdhc and hX when memory cells get small enough to warrant the code. The settings are precise, completely thorough (puts all other OS to shame) fast, and almost always superior on battery life. Hands down superior.

I keep hearing people say "open source" repeatedly when talking about Rockbox but who really cares when it's such a cumbersome interface and used primarily on portables that on not even made anymore? Does anyone actually have a running MRobe player? I tried Rockbox for about two days on my iPod 5.5G Video and it was bloody awful. I felt like I had stepped back in time to 2001. Talk about UGLY, even with themes. The interface is junk also. Sorry, but give me closed source if it works...

wow these guys should really research. All you have to do to go back to the normal ipod system is restart holding menu, and the center button and then flip the hold switch on. Rockbox does so much its ridiculous including, games, making ipod photos and 1g nanos play video, and even enabling custom themes.

the bad thing about rockbox is that it doesn't work on new systems rockbox time has ended I contacted them & they said they are not planning to make a newer edition that works on the ipod classic. because the hardware & software of the old & new are totally different so the rockbox staff got tired of makeing the free software so they are taking a break for life.

ok you CAN watch videos I have an ipod nano with rockbox you have to make a folder in the directory of your ipod and change the format of the video to mpeg and change the size of the video to 176x132 and just drag them to the video file then go to your ipod and under files in rockbox go to videos and voila
