My gut is telling me this is all a lie, in the sense that she either has mental problems and actually thinks she saw these things, or she was having hallucinations, or is mentally disturbed. People who are mentally disturbed often tell of seeing hallucinations, and everyone ignores these things Unless the hallucinations are of something religious. Why is it only religious hallucinations are taken seriously? The Catholic religion runs deep in Spain, and this girl was obviously brainwashed by it.

The reason Catholic pheneomena is taken seriously is because anyone who has encountered a personal experience of Christ through the Holy Spirit cannot deny his existence. One must always investigate this kind of phenomena, and the Church has investigated many. After scientific research by the Church, many person's claims have been false. This appears true because during one vision a Host manifests itself...

@paulheary The problem with the story of the Host is that the person who saw it in her mouth did not examine her mouth to see if it was empty beforehand, she simply opened her mouth and there was a Host, but she could have easily placed it their herself & waited for someone to pass by, which I believe she did. I think this is why Conchita no longer talks about this & pretends it never happened, she accomplished what she wanted, which was a better life free from poverty in the USA. Good for her.

@Nightbird I've actually never seen proper footage of the event so I can't come back at you regarding it. You neglect to mention however the phenomena they experienced such as walking backwards while in ecstacy and seemingly easily scouring tracts of harsh terrain with great ease much faster than those standing by watching as they seemed to experience an apparition. Whether it was divine or demonic I don't really think one could deny some kind of supernatural intervention in the experiences.

I understand, but keep in mind that what seems like harsh terrain to you and I is what is normal for them, plus I am sure they practiced beforehand. Just like when you watch a mountain goat glide on small ledges at incredible speeds that a regular goat could not do. This is why I do deny any supernatural intervention. If you knew the desperation that deep poverty causes, you would understand how easy it would be to fake this. I could have done it myself if need be to escape hunger.

@Nightbird I find your comments very surprising and somewhat presumptuous. Villagers have said on record-as far as I am aware-that they noticed the speed at which the children gliding over the terrain was far from the 'norm' . You also can't presume that while this terrain is 'normal' for them that feet adjusted to a certain environment suddenly become adjusted to pain over and above an outsider. Poor people can also be desperate but you are forgetting scientific evidence that supports them.

Furthermore, my gut is telling me this did not happen, it simply isn't logical, nor has anything happened to prove the claims, such as the symbol the girls claimed mary told them would be visible to the whole world. There are many religions in this world, many of which have no concept of "sin", yet mary told them all the sinners would be converted? Shouldn't a deity know the concept of "sin" doesn't apply to everyone from different faiths? Again, another sign this is a made up event.

My comments come from the fact that I have lived in countries with similar terrain, so I know what may appear difficult to some isn't to others. Children are not adults, they are amazing creatures in of themselves, who can do amazing things adults can't. I know of no scientific evidence that proves what these girls saw was real, only that they believed it was and convinced others of the same. Belief is not scientific proof, so what proof do you speak of? I would like to see it.
