4. Put that e tec up against the Aussie ski race team Silent Black with their 1800s and 250 Verado sport, it would blow them all away, pulling two skiers acrorss a line at 102 mph isnt easy.
Seems like the point of the video here is to prove that the 2 stroke with e-tec is just as eco as a 4stroke. with the same amount of horsepower. AND the performance is better.

They should have raced the TWO STROKE Mercury Optimax's instead of the heavy FOUR STROKE Verado's and same with the Yamaha's four strokes and the two stroke vmax's. Kind of unfair to race the heavy four stroke models when both Yamaha and Mercury have amazing two stroke models. Now if the evinrude's could beat the optimax and vmax i would be impressed. I would be even more impressed if it could beat the mercury racing 225 sport xs. So evinrude up for the challenge?
@mano266 my hydrostream VKing had a Johnstone 235 on it when I got. It was hard pressed to hit 76 mph with a 28" chopper prop. I sold the Johnstone to a guy with a Mako and put a 200 Black Max on it and had it radared by the same Florida Highway Patrol officers MPH gun and I was doing 94 mph. Giving the same advantage to the Merc as the Forevercrude ETEC I'd say the Merc would have no less than 8 mph on it.

@mano266 I totally agree! Merc has a much better offering than Evinrude depending on what a person is looking for. Like you said, throw a 225 Optimax and a 225 pro xs in and then see how this turns out. I think Evinrude makes a good motor but is much more limited than Merc.

Dumbass. They compare it to the 4 strokes because despite the differences, they're most comparable in fuel efficiency. Evinrude is proving you can get ALL the advantages of a 4 stroke and the benefits of a 2 stroke in 1 engine, and that's what the E-TEC does.
Yeah I see two thing going wrong. They put a 4 stroke verado against the 2 stroke e Tec. Notice when they say they Evinrude is lighter, Verados are beasts! Put an Optimax on that other Ranger and do it again!!! Plus two, are we for sure that the Yamaha and Mercury weren't at full throttle?

@94mightymax i know you comment is year old. if you haven't gotten you etec yet, is you are debating on which to get the 30hp is you better bet. just wanted to let you know the etec 25 and the 15 are the 30hp motor downgraded a bit, weght is all the same just less power. just thought i could share a bit of info with you.
@Motorfordtoyota im not here for an arguement, and im not trying to start one, but i know a guide that has had an etec for 4 years, but he recently switched back to his yamaha because his etec had stranded him on the water 3+ times (and he did everything the manufactor told him to do to keep it maintained, and he had a 2 stroke yamaha for 10 years before and not a single time was there a problem.
@camy365 my friend had a old evenrude on had a lot of problems so the buy a etech same hp 25 had problems with it when they just got it. i have a old 98 90hp 2 stroke never had one problem never wont start!
