@Chrelle509 unfortunately on the newer macs like the os x bootcamp isn't preinstalled. you have to have the actual disk with windows vista or any newer windows to install bootcamp. there are instructions on the apple website and i think any version of windows older than vista wont work.
I'm trying to do this on my friend's mac, that's running on OS X 10.6.8. I found Boot Camp, but after the page that asks to Print, it goes to a page asking "Download the Windows support software for this mac" or "I have Mac OS X installation dis/already downloaded windows support software blah blah blah." So I chose the first option, and after a couple seconds it says, "Windows support software is not available." was wondering if I need to update or download something else? sorry for the tl:dr
Your question doesn't make any sense. OS X and Windows are operating systems for computers. What Boot Camp does is simply allows for you to install Windows along with your original OS X operating system. The OS X takes up a potion of the hard drive, and the Windows install takes up a remaining portion that you select. When you boot up, you can choose to log into either OS X or Windows. It's just dual-booting...nothing too fancy.
Quick question.. I'm already running boot camp and I did my partitioning but now I want more space on my mac side, is there a way to change the partitioning without going through the whole boot camp process again? Thanks for your help! :]
Hey Chris I'm having a big problem while trying to do this when it installs Windows it gets to that screen where it shows the percentage thing in Win7 it restarts then it stays in a Black screen with nothing on it I restart my Mac and it makes me restart the installation I just got my mac
hey I need help I tried to do this but I just got my Mac today and when it tells me to Burn the Windows Support Disc it doesn't let me Burn I put the DVD and it doesn't do anything if you know what I could do please Help ... Thanks
when i partition i get this error The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again. any ideas how to fix????
@noonatnight You are a FAIL how the hell are you going to install an operating system without the info?. What a dumb ass. Sorry cheap ass you do not want to buy a doble layer disk hahahahahahahah. Keep looking for what ever the hell you want magician hahahahahahahah.
in the mac do you still have to use the same mouse click with single click then with windows with (left & right) click how douse that work in the the same way or not wen you do a boot camp
k now legit question ... CAN i use a non legit copy of windows for this? ... i have a macbook pro aluminum unibody 4gb ram , 2.54ghz. and i non legit copy of windows 7 ultimate. can i use that on my mac?
hey ive got a great idea, instead of buying a mac in the first place why didnt you just a get a windows laptop? do me a favor and throw that fuckin thing out the windows and go get a legit PC with Windows 7 on it!!!
Bootcamp lets you install windows on a mac (dunno why you should) When in installed windows you can start up your mac, hold down shift or something and then you can choose to launch os x or windows. with parallels you can have both OS on the same time.
I tried running xp on a macbook pro and that was the first time windows worked ok. it was fast and smooth. I think it has to do with the os x drivers, they are all there, no downloads it just worked. Not running windows on my mac anymore i'm a convinced mac addict now :)

is it necessary to get virus protection as u now have windows on your MAC. Or will the Mac still protect from viral issues getting on to you computer?
Once you get windows, well... windows is windows, its not mac anymore when you boot it using windows xD
so yes, the mac part of your comp will still be mac, no viruses, anything; while the windows parts will behave like a normal windows comp, viruses, crashes...
but if windows crashes nothing will happen to mac, meaning that they are unlinked

a warning to anyone using boot camp: partitioning while having multiple applications open in the BG has caused my HD to crash. if your system locks up when partitioning, just wait a few minutes and hopefully it will unfreeze. DO NOT FORCE YOUR MACHINE TO TURN OFF right away. that is what seems to have caused the HD to crash. just a warning
hey Im installed boot camp and then it didnt install corectly, everytime i try to restart it it goes back to the setup screen...how do I cancel it completly?!?!?!?/ im crapping my pants
you should hold down the restart button to restart the mac then when the computer is turning on hold down right click on the mouse and the windows disk should come out and it will come up with your original mac settings

a warning to anyone using boot camp: partitioning while having multiple applications open in the BG has caused my HD to crash. if your system locks up when partitioning, just wait a few minutes and hopefully it will unfreeze. DO NOT FORCE YOUR MACHINE TO TURN OFF right away. that is what seems to have caused the HD to crash. just a warning

you should hold down the restart button to restart the mac then when the computer is turning on hold down right click on the mouse and the windows disk should come out and it will come up with your original mac settings
