There's a fucking COLD STONE in Japan?!?!?!!?!? Can I transfer locations!!!!!!!?!?!?! Poor College Student's dream come true! Maybe singing for tips in Japanese will be less degrading :P
before cold stone was really popular i went there for my friends bday the guy said if u tip them they will sing(bad choice!)
we paid for ice cream a giggled and sat out side stalking the dude thinking about it.
we had 20 dollars left and said what the heck and broke them into singles.
there were 5 workers, we are anime geeks so we asked if they could say nya while singing happy birthday. by the time we got to the 10th time, the five people gave us our money and begged us to leave, in usa
He took you all the way to the mori building.. Reminds me of this one comic where an old lady asks a man for directions to some place, and the man brings her all the way to the place. Getting to the destination involved walking through a city, crossing a desert, and swimming across a sea.
lol that was so funny! I guess Americans look like good tourists in this situation for tipping. I love how un-japanese that is too-we won't sing until you pay up.
I really kinda feel bad for the employees. Ah my guess is that most if not all Japanese would never tip out of embarrassment. Singing is usually done in private with groups of friends or work colleges at karaoke bars and such. Although that is part of the job description but I imagine most don't like doing it. If it were me I would sing along. ^_^
HA HA! We sing the same songs in the U.S. Coldstones! (I used to work at one... but I never cried after work from singing, since it was free money, and it's not like I knew the people tipping anyway. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!)
I'm a Japanese, and the reason I think about their tip box is, it's just looks cooler with Foreign money inside. Japanese doesn't think their money or most every thing are cool. (At least, I hate most of Japanese stuff.)
But yeah, it's so stupid.
The cold stone that I've been, they sing for free. Come to the Cold stone in Tachicawa, Tokyo.
I wish I worked somewhere that involved singing... I just wish I had a job actually D=
by the way.. I just discovered your channel today and I have been watching your videos and I must say you are amazing... and I love you and you should marry me.. ha ha ha jk jk jk. but I still love you.
i love it, i laughed at this video the most. man i want more of this stuff on your site. i demand it. ill send you an american quarter if i get it lol.
oh anyhow, could you add some more lessons on here? your funny as heck.
guess what, i work at coldstone and i dont sing for tips cuz i dont use my real singing voice, so i basically talk the songs. i use my REAL VOICE for the ladies. Sry Coldstone
@WunderVollDoll because the American dollar is accepted world wide as world currency & i guess the Americans who went there wanted to see if they sing when they put the money in there
In England it's like; you really don't HAVE tip to unless you feel the service was EXCEPTIONAL.
if the service was good you shouldn't have to tip; I mean I expect good service when I walk into a restaurant.
Generally speaking we only tip regardless of the service when we're in a small independent restaurant and feel sorry for the underpaid waiters/resses XD
Wow, thats kind of bitchy like I mean it looks like when you dropped that quarter in the coldstone jar you were saying in your mind "Sing for a american quarter, Betch!"
In regards to that bit where you said the guy took you all the way to the Mori building, we came across loads of people who had the same experience of asking for directions from total strangers who walked them to their destination, no matter how far away it is. One guy who was asked didn't even know where the place was, yet walked around helping the tourists look and would not stop and walk away until they got where they wanted to be. I love Japan.
awesome!!! me and my sister went to that coldstone! she got so excited - we're from wales, but she lived in america for a bit, so she knew what it was. my god, life changing moment.
i love how in japan they sing disney songs that we all know and love that we can sing along to (and that actually sing in tune), while in american (i'm using the coldstone in NYC as an example) they sing these strange made up songs that are strangly american music related (like rap, rhianah style, ext.) and they don't even sing in unison.
*tries to keep a serious face* yes, yes are are a horrible person for paying japanese people in a ice cream shop to sing you disney songs. Shame on you! XP
yeah cool! i'd sing too xD with a jar liKe that. Koichi how old r you?? in this video you look like a 17 year old boy but in the others seem to be 28 o.O??
I once left a tip at restaurant when I first started living in Osaka and the waiter literally chased me down the street after I left to give me back my money. haha.
My brother went to Japan a couple years ago and went into a store to get some sort of video game thing but he didn't have enough money on him. The sales person looked up other stores online to see if they had the thing for cheaper, called one place to see if they had it in stock, then wrote out directions for him. Amazing.
the respect and kindness of the japanese people never fails to amaze me. They are the most helpful people ever!! But everyone should make an effort to learn some japanese when they go to visit instead of being typical "american tourists" and bluffing your way through on loud english xD
Yeah my brother had taken two years of Japanese in high school before he went. He said knowing how to read Katakana was probably the most useful thing to know while over there.
lol I'm sorry but their accent I'm not trying to be a jerk because I'm sure I sound horrible in Japanese (and other languages for that matter) they sounded like the chipmunks.
hmm i should visit a coldstone- I've never been to one hehe I could never work at a coldstone for two reasons- i'm too shy, and i can't sing lol so ya...
