Back when I was going to UH Manoa, my bus stop was near one of their offices. I didn't know what Dianetics was at the time. They sent some hot chick over to bring me into there office and gave me that same stupid survey! It merely turned into a sales pitch for the book. I told them to lend it to me and when I got rich from reading it, I'd buy it then. They weren't too happy with that one...

some gullable people are gonna look at that and say "this test must be good it comes from Oxford" However the test has nothing to do with Oxford Uni thats just its name. The wierd questions asked in personality tests along with stress tests are designed to make you feel uneasy and stressed. When given the results that you need their help and very often urgently alot of people would think theyre correct!

One day during high school I skipped school, with my friend Rob, and went into Boston...I was 16...39 YEARS AGO...and was confronted by a group of 6-10 recruiting scientologists. Ok, we smoked a little refie and were abit high. These people brought us to a house, I like to think of it as the house of scientology. After about 10 minutes my friend and I look at each other and said let's get outta here. My mother recieves 2 letters a week to this day!

I think that to continue we'd be nitpicking over terminology.

For me, I can still hold Buddhism in my mind as being either theistic or non-theistic, because it seems to have elements of both.

But to be rigid, the lack of deities would make it atheistic. To me, I so strongly link superstitious dogma and theism that I still feel Buddhism is theistic.

I guess I'm lacking the right terms to use..

I guess you could look at it like that. I as a theist see sometimes the overgeneralization and it bothers me that I get lumped in with christians. It just gets on my nerve sometimes. But I very much enjoyed this exchange.

Buddhism has all of the trappings of religious that offend my sense of logic and morality. A belief in a fictitious way of conquering death through religious practice and study, escape from reality, childhood indoctrination, a messiah (similar to Christ) who rules over his disciples from beyond the grave, a dogmatic system which robs its followers of their time and effort and money, and a history of conquering those who don't believe the same as them.

Sounds enough like a religion to me.

Do not think that atheism cannot be indoctrinated into a child. It may not have the dead guy ruling over you when you die but you can still become violent through extream beliefs. If you think that just because you dont have a faith means your exempt from what has happened with previous religious groups your wrong. It honestly doesnt matter if you believe in a God or not. Once a group gets power it can and usually does become violent.

Which Religions specifically. You cannot over genralize to every religion, and belief system. Wiccan for example typically come from christian backgrounds therefore are hesitant to even teach their children their religion. You are not being intellectually honest.
