Some of the hip hop stars are slightly effeminate... Lil Wayne and Mos Def come to mind. A big one is Michael Jackson who is mostly embraced, although some black figures have disowned him for the pedophilia charges, like Katt Williams.

It's more of a quiet disrespect for most middle-aged white people in my experience. Also most of today's adult whites were 70's hippies, which was more of a white thing, so many of them are more likely to be open about shit. Another factor is poverty: poor people are more likely to aggressively scapegoat. But it's all changing nowadays.

I totally support (and encourage) your right to point out his ignorance and stupidity on the subject. However, I do not think it prudent to bring in the race factor. It is true that there is lots of homophobia in non-white communities, but there is two sides to the coin in this case. It is an unfortunate circumstance of our society that the LGBT movement is still dominated by gay white males (and mostly concerned with their interests).

Some of the hip hop stars are slightly effeminate... Lil Wayne and Mos Def come to mind. It's more of a quiet disrespect for most middle-aged white people in my experience. Also most of today's adult whites were 70's hippies, which was more of a white thing, so many of them are more likely to be open about shit. Another factor is poverty: poor people are more likely to aggressively scapegoat. But it's all changing nowadays.

Same way some abused children grow up to be assholes because of their anger at the abuse. It's their way of 'righting' the wrongs that were done to them, possibly. Or it could just be power, to be on the powerful side for a change. The same concept would apply to poor people, since they are usually oppressed and looked down upon, which would explain the hostility.

@Desertphile One thing to note - that study could not differentiate between anatomical response (not necessarily arousal) due to sexual arousal and response due to extreme anger/disgust. In other words, bigotry is not *always* due to repressed sexuality. Sometimes it's just stupidity, intolerance and social upbringing.
Although I think in all cases, getting laid would certainly due them a world of good... ;)

It is true that there is lots of homophobia in non-white communities, but there is two sides to the coin in this case. It is an unfortunate circumstance of our society that the LGBT movement is still dominated by gay white males (and mostly concerned with their interests).

First of all, "homophobia" is a LIE....NO one has been diagnosed for being a "homophobic" using the basic diagnostic criteria for all phobias....Homophobai is not even a "phobia" No one is afraid of faggots and queers. As a lesbian, the irony for me has always been that I had to watch out for the "straight" chicks. They'be been making moves on me since before I even came out. Knowing I was gay, I was always far too paranoid of being found out or stigmatized. I've always gone out of my way to make the straighties comfortable around me. Funny, they've rarely extended the same courtesy.
If my sexuality was molded at a young age, then the older males at those 'sleepovers' would have me batting for the other team.
