Each time I listen to this gorgeous instrumental I get more out of it...Brendan is an incredible harmonicist. It always makes the tears well (for me)...it's so beautiful. The other instrumentalists are wonderful as well (I love the blend of chromatic and flute), but he's the musician I know.

that's EXACTLY the same reaction I had. I play chromatic harmonica as well (but nowhere nearly as good of course), have met Brendan and am blown away by how brilliant his playing is...and what a down to earth and nice guy too. This is so moving each time I hear it by the end I find I'm in tears (but thought it was just me). Thanks so much for your comment...realize I'm not so silly after all :)

I used to play the flute. then I realized that I didn't really like the things I played. Some classical pieces, just notes passing by... there was no feeling in it. I was just getting better, but I didn't feel anything about it. So I started playing the guitar. You can do more things with a guitar, it helps you understand composing music better. And a piano works even more for sth like that. Idk why I say those things in here. Fuck.

Brendan plays different harmonicas...this one's a chromatic. check out his bio for more information..and for the record, as brilliant as he is, there ARE other equally wonderful harmonica players Brendan himself would give credit to. It's not a toy or silly instrument, but can and does make beautiful music in many talented players' hands. Christellester (here on YouTube) for instance. Will Galison. Tons more. This is beautifully done, but 'normal' for Brendan.

the thing about Brendan is that he doesn't exaggerate his 'button pushing' the way some people might be used to seeing with 'some' other chromatic players. He's so lowkey, incorporates it into the song very fluidly so it's almost unnoticed. This piece is, frankly, stunning and one of the best examples of modern-day chromatic playing. The comments telling Candy rat to stick to guitars are what frost me a bit, when something this gorgeous can be disdained purely because it's played on a harmonica.

@ikra Weeelllll...he's actually not the only one. :) There's a whole community of brilliant harmonica players and quite a few other wonderful chromatic players out there at Brendan's level, but 'tis true...he's definitely among the very best of them, and this piece is especially gorgeous. Unfortunately there are a lot of not so great players who insist on posting their efforts which give people the wrong idea about just how beautiful a harmonica can sound. ;)
