Catch-22 was THE favorite nightly squadron ready room movie on the aircraft carrier I was on in the early 1970's. people could really identify with the stupidity depicted in the movie.
Also I can pretty much guarantee this is the best Catch-22 will ever get on film, or it could be a long time. I think they did a pretty good job, regardless of a few parts being lacking.
@PattayaDIRTY According to Joseph Heller in an interview, he envisioned a horrified Buck Henry (screenwriter, also Colonel Korn) looking in horror through the original novel and exclaiming, "Oy, there's no PLOT here!!" So on that basis, it's pretty faithful to the book...
@ArkhamKnight13 i too felt like that for the first 30 seconds. but as i saw the movie till the end it was like he is the best for yossarian.. you wudnt call if u had watched it till the end
Catch 22 is my favorite novel, i was a little let down by the movie. I realize its a massive book but they left the best parts out. I havent read it in a while but i remember reading and laughing out loud when that guy was explaining the "practice" crashes and when they found him in the raft. Still a good movie though :)

wow. can't believe people are hating on Arkin as Yossarian. I thought he was brilliant in the part, actually. I really enjoyed his performance.

Remake?

You know what, Alan Arkin reminds me of either a young Bruce Willis (Moonlighting), or Keanu Reeves with a thick Brooklyn accent.

this is degrading for the book

Best book ever, worst film (acting) ever.

@GyrosHunter worst film acting??? man everyone acted so well.. they have done great job in making a movie from a difficult book..

@karunalism
It's my opinion, but I advise to watch some good acting, cause this is like watching a forest. Lot's of wood instead of actors.

Great line from the pipe smoking navigator to the pilot's request of where are we, amidst the boom of flak bursts,' I think we're there'. Priceless.

I signed something today with "Washington Irving". Felt like I needed to pay tribute to the best book I've ever read.
