Love the look of the camera..and think it'd make a cool look for a modern digital camera :D
I've been into photography for a long time, but then stopped for a while and am getting back into it again little by little, but I'm going ahead and saving up for a starter DSLR camera right off the bat. I'd rather not spend $50 on a film camera when that money could go towards my DSLR >.O But if you're into that kind of thing, I say go for it!
i had thisexact camera and i hated it!! i took it to so many drugstores to get the film developed and it would always come negative (the pictures) and it was tooo complicated to use. i just didnt like it..so i sold it on eBay..also it was pretty expensive (about 100)..just like Elle said..if you get it be sure you have experience w cameras. Also, i would always forget to take the lens cap off
i know you love cats =) so you should check my tumblr out =) photographycapturesmoments.tumblr.com if you need help with photography or you have any questions I can help you out too
@EllesGlitterGossip I just bought the Mr Pink Elle! So excited.. I had to tell you! I got a couple rolls of 120mm film to play around with until I get the 35mm back. I really want the instant back too. I found THE cutest fuji film compatible with the instant back on eBay. They have Hello Kitty, Pooh, Mickey Mouse, Disney Princesses film with little boarders. So cute!
heyy elle i am about to buy this exact camera for my christmas money and i was wondering if you could take some pictures of the pictures you have taken so I/we can see how the pictures turn out, because I am really wondering. thanks :)
hi elle. dont worry about the haters who claim to do photography. i do prefessional photography and thses videos dont upset me. i love your vintage glitz videos. x
I would recommend when looking at film SLRs make make sure you know your stuff. My bf is into film SLRs and has picked up a few that were junk, some of them he got off Ebay so you need to watch out for that too. Canon and Nikon are really good cameras :-)
I think a good thing for your subscribers to remember (at least those who aren't financially well off), you don't need a Diana to make "lomography". You can get an actual vintage camera and a cheap BW developing set and get the same effects. I dunno about you, but $50 is a lot for a camera that was made for a lot less than that when you can get a nicer one for much less.
After watching this video, I went and bought this camera from urban outfitters because you made me fall in love with it, so a series on this would be so helpful xx
I'm not trying to sound rude, but I work in a photo lab, and 120 film needs a special machine to process it. It's not a matter of if we know what to do with it. 35mm is the standard film, so almost all photo labs can process it.
I think you would be interested in the famous photographer Jerry Uelsmann. He work all of his magic in the dark room and creates whimsical black-and-white photos. Enjoy!
i love lomography! I have a holga, hello kitty polaroid n mini diana. I haven't open my mini diana yet cuz i stopped taking pics after i spent most of my money on films n processing lol. But, i'll definitely take more pics in the new year. I look forward to ur diana videos. I just subscribed to this channel!
Can you do more videos on this? I'm really interested:) I've always been intrigued by photography and especially imperfected soft focused pictures. They just have a certain quality that I just love!!^~^
I really liked that you showed us that beautiful Eiffel Tower photo, could we see some more photos taken with the Diana? You keep saying about the romantic feel, and I would really like to see what you mean.
I'm taking film photography at school and we do all the developing and everything ourselves...it's soo much fun! I really love vintage cameras too, i'd love to see more videos like this! If you didn't get one for christmas, I definitely suggest antique malls for vintage 35mm cameras for a great price.
I absolutely LOVE your hair.....can you do a video on how you get it to look like this every day,,,thanks! (and yes, I would like some more videos on photography!)
ELLE! I was just at American Eagle and in their clearance sales, I saw they had 50% off Fisheye 2 cameras in black and pink. There was also one Oktomat and one Fuji Instax (not sure of the size of the Fuji though). I had seen your video and wanted to get a Diana, but since they were on sale I got the Fisheye for a steal. Just thought you should know, since you said you want to expand your collection. <3
@bonjourbellachic youtube wont let me post the link. if you go to the lomography page go to the cameras tab and go down to diana f+ and over to diana f + accessories. its on there.
Yh please im really interested at the moment in vintage photography and have been for a while but now i want to really get into it and learn more about photograpghy !
@BorgeEmbla its a film that makes the images light tones reddened or darkened (and vice versa) Also, the colors are reproduced as their compliments and then reversed back. It creates kind of a glowy image
First of all, HAPPPPPPY NEW YEAR!!!! 2011 went by FAST, but hopefully 2012 will be the best year yet. In honor of the new year, my friend Carly and I have decided to put together a New Year's Giveaway: a cute and fashionable mint green Diana camera! :)
I would love a photography series! I have studied photography at college and love everything photography!! I also have a holga camera and would love to get a diana camera too.
I'd love a series on this! But I've got a question: I really just want polaroid photo's but I can't decide wether to get a Fujifilm Instax or a Diana +instant back. I saw you also own a fujifilm 25 on your tumblr. Which camera would you recommend? And are the photos a bit the same or is one better? Please answer? Love your videos! <33
A photography series would be great! I have been doing darkroom photography for years and it has become my passion. You should try to find a darkroom you can use so you can print your own images. It is so worth it.
MORE! I would love this becoming a series! I am only 13 and i feel that my generation is falling into a tech pit, where they cant appreciate things like vintage film cameras. Ever since i was 5 i've been taking photos with a slr film canon. And my great grandma had a brownie camera! But ever since her passing i cant figure out where it went! But i would LOVE if you did this as a series! Im excite to see some of your work!!!
I love your tumblr. It shows that u are a truly smart and wonder young woman. It shows you can think deeply and dream and live life to the fullest, where at times from youtube, things seem so superficial because you are talking about beauty. I love your tumblr and it really inspires me. =]
I would love if you done more videos on this. I've always had a passion for photography prob because my dad is a photographer, when i was young he was always taking pictures then i grew up always taking picture this was before digital.. i loved film cameras & it was so exciting getting them developed as you would never knew how they were gonna turn out. so wen i started using digital i fell away from it. But u have inspired me again & i'm gonna buy a Diana camera. so please do more videos.
I love these cameras, my sister has one like it and she likes to attach a fish eye lense to it and it looks so cool it like forms a cirlce and I love photography please do more videos on it xxxxx
I am SO into photography. My ant is a photographer, and she has an old SLR camera, but it's not THAT old. I'm from Denmark, and i just visited New York and i saw those cameras in Urban Outfitters, i just didn't know what they were for but i was really curious, so now I can live my dream through your videos if you make them Elle, so please, please, please do!!!
I would love to see video's about how to work this thing!! About 2 years ago or so I got the Diana like kit that came with the camera, a bunch of different lenses, a 35 mm back and a flash attatchment. I've used it a couple times and probably developed 2 rolls of film from it but a bunch of the pictures just came out black and I can't really afford to get film and develop them to only get a few decent pictures out of them. So I would be very interested in more video's like this ! :)
I've seen these kind of cameras at American Eagle! They even had some of the film there! I wanted one SO BAD!!!!! But they were about $70 up to $100. I LOVE photography! Please show us the photos you took when you get it developed!!!!!
I have that same exact camera too! Except I don't have the 35mm back for it. I've had it for a while now and I'm absolutely in love with it! I'd love it if you continue with this series.
On your tumblr do you post other peoples photos or reblog them? Just wondering because some of my friends and I have been in the position where people steal photos for their blogs and it really sucks
Omg honestly i LOVED this video so much!! I am Into photography and cameras and i would love to have a camera like that, and they have really nice ones on the site too. I really wanna see a series on this. <3
@FIFII because, traditional film photography is so interesting. it's manual, so you actually need to know what you're doing rather than pointing and shooting. I took a traditional photography class in high school for three years, and it's just so much fun developing the film.
@FIFII analog film photography is an art form. To me digital photography is boring! I love my Diana Black Jack. I wouldn't trade it for anything, especially a digital camera.
@FIFII because u can capture such amazing pictures .......she just said that in the video .....duh!!! AND ELLE UR AN AMAZING GIRL KEEP DOING WHAT U DO
I don't get it, in this digital age, why would someone still want a camera which needs its photos developed and not put straight on a computer from a memory card?
I'm a HUGE photography geek. I just bought a 1960's Kodak box brownie online today, I'm so excited for it to arrive! Loved this video. Definitely my 'cup of tea'!
Elle, i personally think that you are Epic-ly Awesome and Amazing!!!!! when i watch you and your sisters vids, it makes my day better, and they put a smile on my face. i instantly get happy when i watch you and Blair. if you guys ever came to new mexico, that would be shweet!!!!
do you have the wide angle lens? because i've heard the pictures aren't formatted right when medium size is converted to 35mm without that lens, i.e. heads cut off, no vignette effect. have you experienced this problem?
Please do a series!!!! I have never really been interested in these cameras but I'm so curious and want to learn more!!!!!!!! I think I want one too now ha:)
Please do more photography!!! I love some what vintage photography I think it's gorgeous and this has been helpfully in itself to know you might do more! -3
not interested in film photography. I've gotten into digital photography this year, but I'm not really interested in seeing videos about film photography.
You should look into Xpro films (slide films). If you haven't heard... they are more expensive than normal CN but if cross-processed ("xpro") they create unusual colors. The secret is to put them into the "wrong" chemicals for processing and then the film turns green, blue, red or pink, depending on the film you use. Lomography has its own xpro films but there are a lot of them out there.
PLEASE DO MORE VIDEOS ON THIS!! :D I am currently waiting for the gold diana w flash, la sardina cubic w flash and the holga 3d camera and I'm so excited! Thank you for inspiring me!!
i think you should show some pictures you have taken at least i would love to see some! i like this series and i am interested in it thumbs up if you agree with me
i wanted to buy one to play with but i have not use a film camera before.. So i'm really unsure about begging my dad to buy me one. But i really like the soft effect that a diana gives.
For 35mm SLR's, assuming you don't know how to meter your photographs, I would suggest getting a Canon EOS Elan II with a 50mm f/1.8 lens on it. It's a simple film SLR from 1995. I wouldn't suggest getting anything older until you know how
please do a series on this!

On your tumblr do you post other peoples photos or reblog them? Just wondering because some of my friends and I have been in the position where people steal photos for their blogs and it really sucks

I don't get it, in this digital age, why would someone still want a camera which needs its photos developed and not put straight on a computer from a memory card?

I'm a HUGE photography geek. I just bought a 1960's Kodak box brownie online today, I'm so excited for it to arrive! Loved this video. Definitely my 'cup of tea'!

do you have the wide angle lens? because i've heard the pictures aren't formatted right when medium size is converted to 35mm without that lens, i.e. heads cut off, no vignette effect. have you experienced this problem?

You should look into Xpro films (slide films). If you haven't heard... they are more expensive than normal CN but if cross-processed ("xpro") they create unusual colors. The secret is to put them into the "wrong" chemicals for processing and then the film turns green, blue, red or pink, depending on the film you use. Lomography has its own xpro films but there are a lot of them out there.

"Analog film"
Lol Elle, analog IS film.
For 35mm SLR's, assuming you don't know how to meter your photographs, I would suggest getting a Canon EOS Elan II with a 50mm f/1.8 lens on it. It's a simple film SLR from 1995. I wouldn't suggest getting anything older until you know how
