  • is there a mathematical definition for a torus? i thought it was this: given circle P, the set of all points r units away from each individual point on circle P.

however, the irregular torus kinda destroys that definition :o

  • @talesofdork that could be a geometric definition. but in topology, the study of connectedness, a torus is a genus-2 surface, a surface which can turned into a simple polygon (a rectangle) after exactly 2 cuts of the surface along closed loops. it is what you get if you have a rectangle and glue the opposite edges together. It has one hole, it can also be thought of as being a sphere with one handle. a double torus has two holes, and it is not geometrically defined.

  • You are getting very close. Just remember to think always in terms to implement polarity opposition, inversion and reflection and you will then be thinking truly volumetric. ;) Very good video.
