I'm tired of reading comments that don't support this movement to de-funding Planned Parenthood or to "expose" them. When Susan G. Komen defunded Planned Parenthood, (not because of personal believes, but because of money issues) Planned Parenthood literally bashed them. Spreading rumors, saying things about the organization. You call that mature? You call the responsible? What Abby is saying is the TRUTH. Most, if not, all of you don't even have evidence to what you're accusing. Enough said.
Making abortion illegal won't do goddamn thing to prevent abortions! All it does is force women into shady procedures that puts them at serious risk. You realize that foetuses in the first trimester are non-sentient right? They're not killing BABIES by performing abortions. Conservatives are all good with letting troubled people mistreat their kids and put them on the street, as long as its already been born. Do you think pro-choicers think abortion is a "good" and easy thing to do? NO.
@amaroclaro I have to say different. Most pro-choicers I have approached actually like having abortions, some of them claimed that it makes them happier to know that they don't have to raise a baby if they don't want to. There are some that are borderline that are only pro-choice because it's the mom's decision. Why can't the baby decide? What did the baby do so wrong? Just think of how selfish it sounds, "It's MY body, and I can do whatever I want."
It's so funny the people at the clinic I went to never pushed me towards abortion. They showed me all my options and I made my own decision. And after I made it they still wanted to make sure that I was sure. I never felt pressured. She left because she saw an abortion procedure on an ultra sound and it upset her.
On a side note I found a newspaper article with her describing the reason she left the company from two years ago. And it isn't the one she provides in this video.
So 98%of services for PREGNANT women are abortions. So 98% of pregnant women constitute 3% of planned parenthood's services. Maybe Abby just worked in an area with an unusual amount of abortions. I'm interested to know how the director of a single planned parenthood knows exactly what every single other clinic does. Especially since patient information is supposed to be private
What a joke! Soooo tired of uneducated people resorting to religion instead of science. I'd love to know this woman's view on birth control! Oh...and lemme guess - you think the morning after pill is an abortion pill. Thank goodness PP got rid of you.
@BeautifulJrzyGrl the reason why many people oppose abortion is because it contradicts our stand on human rights. If you believe that every human has a right to live but still kill a defenseless baby then you are only contradicting yourself. Plus look into studies of child development... studies have shown that by the moment of conception that baby may not look like a human is a developing human being.
@fgestosani Interesting that you say it contradicts human rights. I wonder whether or not you believe in all people being treated equally. If not, then you may want to not stand on that argument as many of these "pro-life" people stand against gay marriage, which is a civil right that all should have. As for research, I know what good, solid research indicates. There are more bad studies put out there by unqualified and biased researchers who can not separate their personal beliefs from science.
@BeautifulJrzyGrl If you look back in time, the greatest scientist that have changed our lives were mostly christians. Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur, Galileo Galilei, Nicolaus Copernicus, John Dalton, and Einstein being Jewish. I could go on and on but you would probably be annoyed :) These men did not seperate their religion from science (they actually included it in their studies) and they still enspire us to this day.
@hideurcookies You obviously did not understand my point. I really don't care what religious belief you or anyone else has. But, I do have a problem with the lunatics who use religion in an attempt to justify their ridiculous reasoning. You can not prove life starts at conception, that birth control pills are immoral, that gays are going to hell, and the like with the answer "the bible says so, that's why". Anyone with an ounce of intelligence can see this reasoning is greatly faulted. I'm done.
So what. This is just a bullshit pro life vid. How can you increase abortions? No really how can you increase abortions? Abduct pregnant females and abort their babies? Pregnant females who don't want their fetus go to planned parenthood. She should have cared about her health too cuz her fatness can raise her blood pressure and vigorous activity can make her heart beat way faster cuz it has to pump for that big blob. Did she really quit cuz she was tired of cookies n fast food?
Johnson says that she was called in to assist in an ultrasound-guided abortion of a fetus was at 13 weeks gestation. There are NO records of ANY ultrasound-guided abortions performed on the date, & the physician who performed abortions at the Bryan clinic stated that Johnson had NEVER been asked to assist in an abortion. Records from the Texas Depart.of Health show NO such abortions performed at the Bryan Clinic on the date in question. ANOTHER PROBIRTH LIAR.
@Sueezee1 If you have this proof then why don't you give me a link to where it says that? I've read her book, "UnPlanned", and she said that "ultrasound-guided" abortions were just coming out. Their might not have been any records because they just were "testing it out".
@hideurcookies says: and she said that "ultrasound-guided" abortions were just coming out. Their might not have been any records because they just were "testing it out".
@hideurcookies By mid-2009, Johnsons relationship with her employer had begun to deteriorate. Mr Salon reported that on October 2, Johnson was summoned to Houston to meet with her supervisors to discuss problems with her job performance. She was placed on what Planned Parenthood calls a “performance improvement plan.” It was just three days later, on Monday, that Johnson made her tearful appearance at the Coalition for Life.
@Sueezee1 You also said they "stated" that 'there are NO records of ANY ultrasound-guided abortions performed on the date, & the physician who performed abortions at the Bryan clinic stated that Johnson had NEVER been asked to assist in an abortion.' From what I watch from the under cover videos of the Planned Parenthood, they seem to lie quite frequently. They could've just lied about the evidence and told other people that there wasn't any evidence of "an assistance".
Good video! Pro-lifers, learn the TRUTH about Abortion & Choice. Most abortions are unwanted or coerced. Many are forced. Learn what you can do about it. Go to theunchoice(dot)com & clinicquotes(dot)com.
@Els20121, if you constitute services of an abortion to include pregnancy tests, cancer screenings, etc .. 3% is NOT EQUAL TO 98%. stop drinking the right winged medias kool aid. if someone decides to do an abortion, then its their own personal choice, that is that. take your concerns for the death of unborn children else where, perhaps to the thousands of conflicts taking place such as war, starvation, etc.
@nguyen018 "take your concerns for the death of unborn children else where, perhaps to the thousands of conflicts taking place such as war, starvation, etc." That's just the thing. This is a war for the right of life. Tell me, how would you like it if your were aborted? Imagine if you're entire life never happen. If you never existed. If you found out that your mom saw you as a problem. As something she didn't want. You can tell me you wouldn't mind all you want, but we know the truth.
@Rangerhalt1 says: Tell me, how would you like it if your were aborted?
~~~~~~~~~~~ Thats the epitome of ignorant of probirth questions. YOU tell ME, do you cry tears of joy everyday because you wernt killed in a car wreck the day before? If you dont, and you DONT, then dont ask about feelings on being aborted. The human brain cannot comprehend ones own non existance! God, you people need to open a damned book!!
@MrBKainX - I'm not convinced of your sincerity either, just so ya know. Considering how intensely Pro-Life groups have been focused on 'exposing' Planned Parenthood, you'd think there'd be more than you tout. Maybe next time include links to...something...anything, anything not posted by a Pro Life Group.
She was "a"clinic director...that's like saying all of Apple Computers is corrupt because an Apple Store manager says so. Repeated "stings" by Pro-Lifers have revealed...nothing. This woman is just a tiny cog in a machine, and her tone does not convince me of her sincerity.
@RoguePlanet You mean except for more than 12 cases of covering up prostitution and sexual abuse not to mention pp workers agreeing with a man that the less black babies the better.
@RoguePlanet What would convince you that Planned Parenthood is corrupt? Would it be that they aid in sex trafficking? Or that they cover-up cases of statutory rape? Or that they claim to provide mammograms as part of preventive health when they really just refer women to centers that have such capabilities? Forgive me, but while your analogy is valid, it doesn't negate the fact that Abby Johnson does have an insider's perspective that many people, pro-choice or pro-life, don't have.
You hypocrites that profess to love life so much are the same people who had no problem with us killing thousands of children in Iraq . You have no problem with the fact that the Repugs want to cut vital programs for millions of children in the US. You feel the right to tell a woman what to do with her own body but god forbid anyone tries to tell you what to do with your guns.
@mrshouse I love life and oppose our war in Iraq. You say it's all about a woman's right to her own body - but it's her baby she is killing, not herself (except spiritually). My heart goes out to those in difficult situations and I pray that those who don't want their babies will give them up to others who do.
@mrshouse If you knew what they do to babies there, then you'd shut up and listen up. The bible says, 'Thou shalt not kill' it's a sin, and the constitution says that people have a right to life. Nowhere in the constitution does it say that people have a right to abortion.
@SwordofSpirits111 says: Thou shalt not kill' it's a sin, and the constitution says that people have a right to life.
~~~~~~~~~~~ Why do "you people" NEVER show where in the bible it says abortion is a sin? Ya, thats what I thought. AND, yes, the Constitution say that "PEOPLE" have a right to life....thats why a fetu sndosent have any rights. Its not a person. Love all these educated probirthers.lol
American politics is like watching reality tv full of uneducated superstitious egomaniacs. I feel sorry for that country. This video has 5 lies in it, but nobody cares about facts if they agree with the lies
I believe any woman who talks about their regret of having an abortion has tremendous courage. They give added meaning to the life of the child that was lost. I hope more woman find the courage to speak up and find healing and peace.
Recognize the HYPOCRACY! "My body, my choice! I don't want the government telling me what I can and cannot do with my body." BUT "Fund Planned Parenthood with tax payer money, federal and state funds and contracts." You can't have it both ways.
@maimom4 Really? I seem to hear more from your side. "Make the government stop abortions! Make the government defund planned parenthood! Make the government make a law for a women to go through an ultrasound before having an abortion! Make the government have the IRS investigate the women to prove she had a miscarriage and/or was raped! Make the government prevent a women from having an abortion based on gender/race!" Now who is more hypocritical?
@likemachinesdo Yes or no! You want the choice to abort without interference. You don't want Planned Parenthood defunded! If you can't answer these with a straight forward yes or no, then you are being deceitful but turning the table and changing the subject, while avoiding what has been presented to you. Yes or No.
@maimom4 My party is not the one who wants smaller government. Planned Parenthood is not being funded by the government for abortions (LOOK UP THE HYDE AMENDMENT) , so YES I want the option to abort without interference because, IT'S COMING FROM MY OWN POCKET, not the governments. I want to be able to have access to birth control and other screenings for diseases such as cancer, stds, and diabetes so YES I DO want Planned Parenthood funded in that purpose. The issues are completely separate.
@AnAngelOfMercy I do not need government assistance when it comes to health care. I have insurance and an excellent private doctor. Some people are not as fortunate as me, but I believe that they deserve to be healthy just as I am. And seriously, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Again, for someone who claims to be religious, you sure are greedy. Didn't Jesus help the poor? Why don't you follow his example.
Abby, thank you for stepping forward. It is impossible for Planned Parenthood to debate their cause when your experience and statements are made public. Excellent advertisement telling people the truth.
@AnAngelOfMercy And they don't. God I feel like a broken record. IT IS ILLEGAL FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD TO USE FEDERAL MONEY TOWARDS ABORTIONS UNDER THE HYDE AMENDMENT. What your money goes toward is screenings for diabetes, anemia, thyroid problems, testicular cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, not to mention pap smears, vasectomies, flu vaccines, physicals, pelvic exams, and provide birth control to women and men who otherwise couldn't afford it.
@AnAngelOfMercy YOU responded to ME. You cannot take two seconds to look up the Hyde Amendment? AND SOME PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, SO THEY CANNOT SEE A PRIVATE DOCTORS, THAT'S WHY OUR EMERGENCY ROOMS ARE SO PACKED. EITHER WAY YOU STILL END UP PAYING FOR THEM. And I love the private message you sent me. A lot of people are having a laugh at your expense right now. Abby Johnson had two abortions, is she "poor, uneducated, and lazy" because of that, as you said in the message?
@AnAngelOfMercy And I'd much rather prefer to argue with those like @tdb418 who do not resort to name calling and actually have valid points, unlike you. When you do your research, send me another delightful private message.
@AnAngelOfMercy And you responded. So what's your point? I'm terrified of more unwanted babies being born because low income women and men have had their only source of birth control stripped. I'm terrified that people like you who think the poor are nothing more than lazy and uneducated actually exist in this country. I'm terrified that you can breed.
@AnAngelOfMercy I'm not 23, I'm 18. I made this account when I was underage and lied because it wouldn't let me watch videos. I attend college and I'm a pre-med student. Planned Parenthood offers BC for free. I've never had unprotected sex, nor have I had an abortion. I've said this to you before and yet you're still making assumptions. I have insurance and do not need help. I believe in the welfare of others less fortunate than I am. Yeah, the taxpayers have to worry about people like you.
@AnAngelOfMercy Also, birth control pills have to be prescribed, and are not available over the counter, so you cannot buy them at a local drugstore. I'm surprised at your ignorance.
@AnAngelOfMercy And birth control pills are birth control. As are condoms (though not as reliable) and spermicides (even less reliable). So drugstores mainly sell semi-reliable at best birth control. Pills have the highest no-fail rate.
@tdb418 That's also why I agree with the Hyde Amendment, because I see it as a compromise between the two opposing sides of abortion (though some pro-choicers want it repealed).
@AnAngelOfMercy Really? That's why Obama is ahead of the polls? especially in the latino communities who, by the way, grew 25% in population the past few years. Where is your proof that he used cocaine? Faux News? Go learn some manners because you're making pro-lifers look bad.
@likemachinesdo said "That's also why I agree with the Hyde Amendment, because I see it as a compromise between the two opposing sides of abortion"
You're definitely at odds with PP on that one, as well as other things, I've noticed. I have a problem with funds being given for elective procedures that can be, and are, abused regularly, but no problem in funding for necessary care of the poor. We should help the poor but more importantly, help them to help themselves=Dignity / self-esteem.
@tdb418 I also agree. My sisters used to use abortion as birth control when they'd have one night stands with guys from clubs and it just pained me that they would do that. I promise myself I'd never be like that. Honestly, there should be a limit or at least some kind of proof that there's no abuse of the procedure and that the person was taking the proper precautions instead of just saying "oh, i'll get an abortion later, no worries".
@AnAngelOfMercy Really? Now you're not only insulting me, but my family as well. You don't know the circumstances behind women who get abortions. I've known women who have gotten abortions because they baby was going to be stillborn, I've known women who have gotten abortions who haven't even had sex. I've known women who have had ONE PARTNER. Their sex life is none of YOUR business. If they want to live that way, let them. It doesn't affect you in any way.
@AnAngelOfMercy Do you know how much an abortion costs? Look it up. Abortions are expensive, and are out of pocket, and the most expensive thing PP offers. They're worried about being defunded because providing medical services to those who cannot provide for themselves costs a lot of money. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THAT I HAVE A PRIVATE DOCTOR. JESUS.
@AnAngelOfMercy Exactly, but they did make comments available on this video, so your point is invalid. I know about Susan B. Anthony List. I actually inform myself on the other side. I do my research. My problem is you. Plain and simple.
@AnAngelOfMercy What do you gain out of harassing and calling an 18 year old names? Please explain this to me? Because you really seem to get off on it. Like seriously.
@AnAngelOfMercy Again, as I said before, I like to view things as the opposing side views it and maybe change my viewpoint on things, or change theirs, or at least find some common ground. I gain knowledge from debating with people.
@AnAngelOfMercy How am I harassing you? Have I called you names? No. Insulted your family? No. THESE are things you have done to ME. I've found it very hard to be patient and calm with you. I might as well not respond. I think I won't.
@likemachinesdo said "My sisters used to use abortion as birth control when they'd have one night stands with guys from clubs and it just pained me that they would do that."
Then it stands to reason that one's lifestyle, their actions, and their view of morality is indeed the cause.
But, what I want to know is; Why does it pain you that they would do that?
@tdb418 It really annoys me when people cannot take two seconds to put on a condom, especially with strangers they don't know. And, they're also abusing the procedure, and thus causing women who actually took the proper precautions to look bad.
@tdb418 And, as I said before my sisters have jobs and cars and houses, so they could have easily afforded to take care of a baby. I think personally for myself, I'm pro-life, but I support choice only in certain circumstances.
@likemachinesdo Well, I can definitely appreciate that. The problem that I was, and am, having is trying to figure out why someone would be against abortion as a means of birth control, for instance, if we're only talking about a "fetus"? This, to me, is a pretty big contradiction which leads me to ask difficult questions, even of myself, because I want to discover the truth of the matter.
@tdb418 As do I. I guess a person has to be in the situation to understand it, and it depends on the mindset one is in. To one person, it could be a fetus and a burden, but to another, it would be a life and a blessing. That's why the topic is so controversial.
@likemachinesdo True, but I'm talking about the same hypothetical person in both cases. How can a person say that a fetus is nothing more than a parasite or a mass of cells, and not a person and at the same time say that abortion should not be used as a means of birth control? Why shouldn't it?
@tdb418 Because from a scientific viewpoint, that's what it is. That's how the women who is having an abortion views it, and we most likely cannot stop her from it. There are many risks from multiple abortions, and also, in my opinion, it demonstrates carelessness and not taking the proper precautions. It's like giving a customer something free and then they come back expecting the free item every time they shop in your store without any money. Did that analogy make sense? It seems confusing.
@likemachinesdo Yeah, it made sense, but of course I have another problem, but not a lot of time to go into it right now. Just please keep in mind that the vast majority of people who are pro-life are not extremists, we genuinely care. Unfortunately, that's not the case all the time. I'm not trying to win an argument and I don't view the pro-choice person as the "enemy". Think about this, you said the other day that you knew the value of the fetus, why does it have value?
@tdb418 I know, both sides have their share of people who don't help the cause, but hurt it (like the pro-choicer who came on here and called Abby a "fat pig". That was rude and uncalled for). Again, only speaking for myself here, but it has value to me because it's what your body made, and to me that's amazing. Sometimes my mom will look at me in awe and will be like "I made you. Wow,", and I believe I will be the same way. It's fascinating the things the human body can do.
@likemachinesdo Well, while that's one good reason to value a child, I think it's only part of the reason. Our bodies make many things that we don't value at all. I would guess that the reason your mother values you most of all is that not only did her body "make" you, it's YOU that she values, the person that you are, it's love that makes the real connection and it's the fact that you are loved that gives you real value, hence you were loved into existence.
@tdb418 True, and then there's factor of wanting it in the first place. Some people couldn't care less about having an abortion and see it as a relief. They want to live their lifestyles free of the responsibility of the "burden" of a baby, while for some, it's devastating. People's mentalities are different, I guess. I know I couldn't care for a baby right now, but I would be devastated to give it up for adoption or abort. It really would take a psychological toll on me.
@likemachinesdo said "Some people couldn't care less about having an abortion and see it as a relief."
That's the way I saw it, but I see it much differently now, largely because of the regret. Something that is "good" is never kept hidden and avoided. I didn't even want to think about and when I did, I tried to push the thought away. Something that is genuinely "good" is brought into the light, we welcome the thought, and we actually want to share it with everybody. Not the case with abortion.
@tdb418 It's funny though, the regret is what led me to reason out that something must be very wrong with what I took part in. It lead me to seek out the truth of the matter and to the "conclusion" that I needed to do something to help prevent others from going through the same thing that I was dealing with. Now I want to bring it into the light where as before I wholeheartedly avoided it. Now I embrace the regret in order to offer the healing that I experience to others.
@tdb418 I know. I think I would regret it too. If I ever had a child, I would take them to Disneyland for their birthday every year, get them a puppy, and make sure they go to a good school. If I ever were to have an abortion, I'd find myself thinking of these things later on in life and filling with regret. I do see it as a person, but other women see it as a cluster of cells, and I cannot change their minds about it, because it's totally up to them, not me.
@tdb418 It depends on your morale and what you consider to be more important...yourself or another person. I believe in the welfare of others, so I find myself sympathizing with their ailments more than my own. If you care about yourself, then you most likely won't feel the regret that someone, say you or me, has felt. Abortion is not really a topic to be discussed because it is private and personal, just like you wouldn't want to discuss someone who has cancer or diabetes or an std.
@likemachinesdo said "Abortion is not really a topic to be discussed because it is private and personal,"
I think discussion is important and beneficial only if the motive is right. I've been guilty of selfish motives many times, you've actually brought me one step closer to avoiding it. That doesn't mean that I'm going to stop arguing with you;-)
@likemachinesdo Another question that bothers me (among many) is; If abortion is a morally acceptable act, why does everyone want to see it reduced and even eliminated? Even the pro-choice person. When something just doesn't "sit right" down deep, it leads me to seek out the reason why, which begs an answer, but not just any answer that allows me to define the truth, but the answer that helps me to discover truth and to continue to discover truth because it is inexhaustible.
@tdb418 I'd have to agree, but I cannot speak for others. I understand the need, but still it is definitely a hard choice one has to make. It wouldn't sit right with me because of all the wondering and anxiety and what would have happened if I had kept the baby, would it be a boy or a girl, and etc. That's why I'm so cautious when it comes to sex. For others, like my sisters, it's more like they've gotten a problem taken care of. I think it all comes down to morality, like you said.
@AnAngelOfMercy You're telling me to grow up? You're a middle aged woman who resorts to harassing an 18 year old girl by calling her a jackass, a little girl, a bottomfeeder, and not to mention, you told me to close my legs. Again, there are more civil anti-abortioners on here, and it's a shame that you cannot follow their example. Especially someone who claims to be religious. Looks like you don't follow Jesus' example of helping the poor, since you claim they're all uneducated and lazy.
@AnAngelOfMercy How exactly did I attack you? Did I call you names? No. I said that I had a different experience than Abby's. That was it. So because I've paid taxes for a time less than you have, that proves what? And what has she exposed? And if more babies are born to more low income women, guess what? That's more people you're paying for in your taxes, just so you know. It's a double edged sword.
@AnAngelOfMercy Plus, records show that no ultrasound abortions were performed on the day that Abby claimed to have seen the baby on the ultrasound that changed her life. In addition to that, she was put on probation by PP for not being up to par in her work and expressed fear of losing her job to a fellow coworker. And lo and behold, but who should guarantee her a job?The anti-choicers. I'm not saying her story isn't legit, but there's a lot of fishy things going on here.
@AnAngelOfMercy Again with the name calling! Credibility for what? I can cite my sources, if you want me to. You still have not answered my questions. And what's with you mentioning my age? Seriously, I would mention your age in every post, but I was taught to respect my elders.
@AnAngelOfMercy Seriously, you have the mentality of a five year old. There's people on here much younger than you and much more civil and you're doing nothing but making yourself look bad. You avoid my questions and have not addressed any issues that I have brought up. It's not helping me change my views, honestly it's just annoying.
Her talk in Fort Collins was awesome :) Anybody here thats bashing her, watch this and then tell me she doesn't know anything :) watch?v=7CPjNG5pRJc

@BeautifulJrzyGrl the reason why many people oppose abortion is because it contradicts our stand on human rights. If you believe that every human has a right to live but still kill a defenseless baby then you are only contradicting yourself.

I could go on and on but you would probably be annoyed :) These men did not seperate their religion from science (they actually included it in their studies) and they still enspire us to this day.
hideurcookies 2 weeks ago

You're definitely at odds with PP on that one, as well as other things, I've noticed. likemachinesdo 11 months ago
@likemachinesdo Well, I can definitely appreciate that. The problem that I was, and am, having is trying to figure out why someone would be against abortion as a means of birth control, for instance, if we're only talking about a "fetus"? This, to me, is a pretty big contradiction which leads me to ask difficult questions, even of myself, because I want to discover the truth of the matter.
tdb418 11 months ago
@tdb418 As do I. I guess a person has to be in the situation to understand it, and it depends on the mindset one is in. To one person, it could be a fetus and a burden, but to another, it would be a life and a blessing. That's why the topic is so controversial.

@likemachinesdo True, but I'm talking about the same hypothetical person in both cases. How can a person say that a fetus is nothing more than a parasite or a mass of cells, and not a person and at the same time say that abortion should not be used as a means of birth control? Why shouldn't it?
tdb418 11 months ago
@tdb418 Because from a scientific viewpoint, that's what it is. That's how the women who is having an abortion views it, and we most likely cannot stop her from it. There are many risks from multiple abortions, and also, in my opinion, it demonstrates carelessness and not taking the proper precautions. It's like giving a customer something free and then they come back expecting the free item every time they shop in your store without any money. Did that analogy make sense? It seems confusing.
likemachinesdo 11 months ago

AnAngelOfMercy 11 months ago
@likemachinesdo Yeah, it made sense, but of course I have another problem, but not a lot of time to go into it right now. Just please keep in mind that the vast majority of people who are pro-life are not extremists, we genuinely care. Unfortunately, that's not the case all the time. I'm not trying to win an argument and I don't view the pro-choice person as the "enemy". Think about this, you said the other day that you knew the value of the fetus, why does it have value?
tdb418 11 months ago
@tdb418 I know, both sides have their share of people who don't help the cause, but hurt it (like the pro-choicer who came on here and called Abby a "fat pig". That was rude and uncalled for). Again, only speaking for myself here, but it has value to me because it's what your body made, and to me that's amazing. Sometimes my mom will look at me in awe and will be like "I made you. Wow,", and I believe I will be the same way. It's fascinating the things the human body can do.
likemachinesdo 11 months ago
@likemachinesdo Well, while that's one good reason to value a child, I think it's only part of the reason. Our bodies make many things that we don't value at all. I would guess that the reason your mother values you most of all is that not only did her body "make" you, it's YOU that she values, the person that you are, it's love that makes the real connection and it's the fact that you are loved that gives you real value, hence you were loved into existence.
tdb418 11 months ago
@tdb418 True, and then there's factor of wanting it in the first place. Some people couldn't care less about having an abortion and see it as a relief. They want to live their lifestyles free of the responsibility of the "burden" of a baby, while for some, it's devastating. People's mentalities are different, I guess. I know I couldn't care for a baby right now, but I would be devastated to give it up for adoption or abort. It really would take a psychological toll on me.
likemachinesdo 11 months ago
@likemachinesdo said "Some people couldn't care less about having an abortion and see it as a relief."
That's the way I saw it, but I see it much differently now, largely because of the regret. Something that is "good" is never kept hidden and avoided. I didn't even want to think about and when I did, I tried to push the thought away. Something that is genuinely "good" is brought into the light, we welcome the thought, and we actually want to share it with everybody. Not the case with abortion.
tdb418 11 months ago
@tdb418 It's funny though, the regret is what led me to reason out that something must be very wrong with what I took part in. It lead me to seek out the truth of the matter and to the "conclusion" that I needed to do something to help prevent others from going through the same thing that I was dealing with. Now I want to bring it into the light where as before I wholeheartedly avoided it. Now I embrace the regret in order to offer the healing that I experience to others.
tdb418 11 months ago
@tdb418 I know. I think I would regret it too. If I ever had a child, I would take them to Disneyland for their birthday every year, get them a puppy, and make sure they go to a good school. If I ever were to have an abortion, I'd find myself thinking of these things later on in life and filling with regret. I do see it as a person, but other women see it as a cluster of cells, and I cannot change their minds about it, because it's totally up to them, not me.
likemachinesdo 11 months ago

I agree, and I've learned that I cannot change someone else's mind, but I believe that abortion is more a matter of the heart anyway.

Agreed on that.

@AnAngelOfMercy Why did it take her THAT LONG to realize something was wrong? Why did she have not one, but TWO abortions?

@AnAngelOfMercy You didn't answer my questions.
