I currently ride a burton joystick, got it used as my first board, it's aiight at slow speeds but as soon as i haul ass it can't hold an edge for shit. its a 159. All my buddies are raving about this board so I was gonna try it out at the shop when the snow gets good. I'm 6'0 185-190 and I wanted something that I can throw around int he park pretty easily. I was almost tempted to go with the 155 but I feel the 157 will allow me to rip when I'm not in the park. What say you good sir?
Hey I'm new to riding and Im really considering this board. I weigh about 165 and am 5'10. Would you suggest 156 cm if I'm going to use this for mainly parks?
Just got this board (154 wide), I have size 13 boots but only weight 135 lb and im 5"9-5"10. Im looking to start doing park/jiibing as a beginner but I also enjoy shredding and carving/jumping/spins/powder. Did I make a decent choice? I mean for 250$ how could u turn it down.
hey, cheers for all your videos! i'm looking for a jib/parkboard nowadays and the parkstar 2011 seems pretty nice. i still wonder where the differences are to the dc pbj which i also consider buying. i am 175cm tall (bout 5'9'' i guess), 154lbs, boot size 9,5. would you say a 149 board is fine?
@guddimon 175 cm is actually closer to 5'7", little over. That's all cool because board size is mostly based off of weight. For park riding you'll want to go a little shorter so yeah around 148 or 149 is great. The Parkstar is an outstanding board and it got a Good Wood award this year. But the shortest we have it in is a 152, which is getting a little too long. The PBJ also a great board and has a lot in common with the Parkstar. They're both flat between the feet with a little lift for rocker
Heyo! from your neighbor wisconsin. i'm an inermediate rider who's been riding the darkstar for the past 3 years. i love the board, but i need to upgrade, and since riding park is one of the only things to do here in the midwest, i want something that handles it well, but can handle the occasional trip out west in real pow drifts. so would you recommend this or the DC PBJ?
@Kevdeez What up neighbs! How's it goin cheese head? Yes I would recommend the DC PBJ. It's a great park board that can take you to the rest of the mountain as well. BUT for riding here in the great Midwest I would recommend you get a board with Magne-Traction. Since our snow is so wonderfully hard packed all the time Mag will change your world with extra grip. Check out 2011 Rossignol boards with Magtek.. or Lib or GNU with Mag. Jus' sayin'. But yes, the PBJ is a great pick as well.
@hockey833 That's maybe a little long. If you ride park, go shorter, if you're all mountain that will probably be good. And yeah, get a mid wide board preferably, but a wide will do the trick .
@hockey833 You can't specifically order like that. Either the company makes it or they don't. You want to get a wider board if you have feet bigger than a size 10. If a board is too narrow for your feet your toes and heels will hang over the edges and drag in the snow and throw off your riding pretty drastically. If a board is too wide and there is extra waist width that you don't need that is just unnecessary added weight on your board that will take more energy to maneuver.
@hockey833 Well, I actually wouldn't suggest the Parkstar to you. I'm assuming you're riding park. Get a board that is around 148-152, and your waist width should be around but not shorter than 25 cm. Look at companies like Lib who just make their boards a little wider, without actually being a wide board. It will tell you the waist width in the specs. The regular Parkstar is too narrow, and the wide is too wide for you and too long.
@thehouseboardshop The reason I want it is because of all the reviews on how well this board handles out of the park because i will be doing about 75% jumps.jibs and 25% backcountry/groomers. I haven't been able to find a 09-10 model under 154 cm, and I dont want to buy a new 11 model for $400.
@hockey833 DC PBJ 151, lots of great reviews, great for mostly park and a little all mountain. The waist is just a hair shy of 25 cm, but if you tweak your stance and bindings you can make it work.
@thehouseboardshop i am about 5'9 and 140 lbs and i wear a size 8.5 boot and i do alot of park riding so i want flex but i also like to cruise around the hill so i dont want a noodle. im on about a $450 or less budget. so what boards should i be looking at? and what size
Im thinking of going for the 157. I have a size 10 boot and i was wondering if i should get a wide? i tend to ride about 10-15 degrees duck footed for both feet. so like V shaped on the board.
@dkang57 A 10 is pretty boarder line. You can get away with a regular waist width if you really wanted to. If you get the right bindings you can adjust your foot forward and backward to even out and reduce toe and heel drag. Also, yeah, the angles of your stance is going to help. A wide might be a little over kill, if you do want to get a wider board I would go with a mid wide.
hey dave im 6 foot and 140 pounds and am an intermediate rider i also mainly hang out in the park and cant decide between the parkstar wide or the slablade wide which do you think is better board for me?
Hi Dave, god dammit, I love your reviews (and now can't decide what to choose) :)
I'm 180cm 98kg, would you recommend K2 Parkstar 2010 (wide) for me or some other board that won't snap when I do butter and make jumps (and what size should I get, I've been riding K2 158cm previously?
Im an intermediate snowboarder. Big skateboard backround, so looking to do a lot of jibs, butters and start to hit some decent jumps with spins and grabs. Want to learn switch stuff now too. Im 5'11'' and 155lbs size 9 US boots. What size board do you recommend? Im thinking a 148...

@danmoore5 Darkstar. it has camber. Better for ollies and fast riding. Holds on takeoffs better. Even landings. Use Camber. Rocker sucks. Maybe for jibbing could be usefull but otherwise sucks. Bad control at high speeds.
okay dave (or someone else @ the house)... i heard your reviews on V rocker and skate banana.. which one for all mountain freestyle and better construction??
okay probably an easy one for you, but K2 parkstar 155 or Burton custom Vrocker 156. Never rode rocker board before, intermediate level, want an all mountain freestyle type board, hitting the groomers, lil bit of park, jibbing around mountain.. all around fun board!!
Hi, I'm planning on buying a new board, and i'm interested on the K2 Parkstar
I would like to now which size would be right for me, I'm 188 cm tall (6,2") and weigh 73Kg (160lbs), I have a big foot USA size 13 so I will have to go with the wide board of this model which are or 154 157 or 160. I usually ride and plan to ride 60% park (rails, boxes and jumps) and 40% around the slopes and shredding some pow when there is.
would also like to know if this board is good to butter & press

@zrouth I'd say because of your size, 6' & 187.5 lbs., I'd go with the 157. The 157 will be a more stable at high speeds...
