Kamelot "Abandoned"

Not to sound like an ass, but how can some of you claim to be "trained" singers and call him the best? I love the band and his voice as much as any of you, but from a pure technical standpoint he's pretty awful. He has serious fundamental flaws with tension in his throat and face, squeezing out notes, faking vibrato and he's pushing way to hard from his throat. Again I love his voice, and he's putting all he has into it, which is why I love it, but to say hes the best technical singer in metal?

He might not be the best 'technical' singer to some people, but he is undeniably a very good singer in general. I mean, you can criticize someone's technique all you want, but the golden rule of music still stands: If it sounds good, it is good.

@jcunit91 Oh I totally agree, I love kamelot and his voice, its just I see constantly comments about his actual "technique" So I figured Id say something about it. But again I agree, he's awesome.

I didnt like Kamelot...and I didnt know their singer...but Abandoned changed my opinion, my perspective.

Now, I love this song and one of my vocal inspirations is Roy Khan. Its because Im the vocalist of my band.

It sucks how his voice gets progressively worse while he is on tour for longer and longer.

Some videos (non live-dvd) are very good, and others he is straining and it doesn't sound as good. Most of those are later in the tour though.

The keyboardist is the best, without him, Kamelot would not have the sound that they have and the only reason from not watching this DVD so much is because the camera work done on the keyboardist. This ballad does not make me cry but "legacy in a rhyme" by Pyramaze does. Deep moving ballads. Also try Heavenly "dust to dust."

I believe Thomas and Khan write most of the Keyboard Melodies. (I could be wrong about who writes the melodies) It is true though, Oliver is an amazing keyboardist.

the camera angle work done on the keyboard player could of been better. Not once did they show the fingers and stay and let camera stay on it on the whole DVD.

Very nice! Yngwie has a new album out later this month with a new tested vocalist. I just hope he slows/makes stony, some of his new songs, like this one.

I don´t think he got the best vocals, i do think that he's one of the bests, it's way to hard to point just one. There's A LOT of great singers in my opnion, and Roy Khan is definitely one of then. But each one is the best within theyr stiles, like Jorn Lande has the best vocals for Hard'n'Heavy, Roy Khan is a great actor, besides his blessed voice, Danny Vaughn is one of the most melodic voices in the Hard Rock, also Daniel Gildenlöw got this awesome voice in the prog metal scene!
