I lived in Zapote in San Jose for 4 months and loved it! I went to different beaches and hiking spots every weekend...but didn't mind returning Sunday nights to the city. . I always found somewhere fun to go out at night. It's dirty downtown but it's fun. Then again I'm from Jersey so maybe it's what I'm used to. :)

San Jose no sera una señora ciudad capital como normalmente sucede con las capitales de los demas paises latinos, pero la apariencia de provincia que tiene la hace muy linda y especial :)

That was mostly in the downtown. I can't say for certain what all of San Jose is like but it's a little bit of everything.

you are right, It is wierd. Ticos get a bit offensive and defensive when you give them a pill of reality. Ticos believe they live in the most beautiful country in the world and San Jose is the most beautiful city. They tend to live in a reality bubble thats fed by media everyday. The countryside however is beautiful just like the rest of centroamerica. Excuse andamuca. Ticos are generaly friendly and educated.

@jgs150283 The person that visited San Jose told me that the city is beautiful and that Costa Rica living standard is very goodm the best of Central America and one od the best of Latin America, only behind Montevideo.
