oh by the way low income does not mean being on welfare , would you be surprised to know your income is low enough to get one and it is a very basic phone with 250 min a month you do need to prove your income , you can also work and be low income and get food stamps help with you elec bill it is based on how much money you make whether at a job or welfare, but rem welfare is now a 5 yr program in your life time thanks to clintion in the 90's w welfare reform

I Love this video. I can remember not always having a cell phone and I functioned fine. Cell phones are no where near a necessity. Free texting? Who the heck sends a text message for a potential job opportunity? "I C job opp n papr 2day, CU @ 5 for Intrview" That's real professional. I agree. I have researched the safelink phone, and it's not one that's good or glamorous. It's not the kind of cell phone I would want to have. I'm glad I'm paying $60/mo for my cell and pay a few taxes to help people get a phone who need it, like elderly, people with disabilites, injured at work, on their deathbed, people who need a phone in order for employers to reach them to get a job because they are trying to get a job, etc..

The worst thing about Safelink is they provide free cell phones to these peole AND are contributing to our economy....they outsource all of their customer service positions to INDIA & SOUTH AMERICA!!! They are not contributing to our society by outsourcing 1000's of potential jobs to other countires/ economies....fustrating. And they a partially government funded entity....annoying!!
