  • THIS CHICAGO RESIDENT WANTS THE ILLINOIS RIVER SHUT DOWN AND CLEANED OUT AS FAR DOWN AS WE CAN GO. THEN REOPEN WITH MULTI-POINT-BARRIERS. They have done this to many lakes in Lake county IL because of that African fish tank weed. Now that idea is already too late, as many TRIBUTARIES down the Illinois river have the EAB, I mean the Asian carp. Our upper Des Plains river & Salt creek are safe as long as super carp can't swim up 20 foot dam.

  • Give money to stop carp? R u kidding me? What a joke these guys have become. I live on the Illinois River and 15 years ago when they started appearing here these guys did not care. Now all of a sudden when they might get into lake Michigan we got a problem? In my opinion as a fisherman on the river they will help the great lakes. They dont bother to tell you how our catfish and game fish populations have exploded since the asian carp have become their main food source.

  • Nature does not obey international borders created by man. There is no such thing as a foreign species. If they can thrive, then they belong there otherwise they naturally get selected out. Otherwise humans would be considered the foreign invaders, we have infiltrated every corner of this earth and pushed out other animals, where ever we settle.

  • Their are silver carp in the Saginaw river in Bay City, MI and I can prove it. Since I have been ice fishing the past couple days, there are hundreds fish swimming just under the holes in the ice and smaller dead ones that are pushed by the current into the ice holes. In two days of fishing I have over ten of these 4 to 6 inch fish dead and I have scooped them out and thrown them onto the ice. I'll say within a year or two, the Saginaw Bay will be full of these fish unless something is done.

  • Animal and Plant Species that are not native to a place are invading the places and eating the native, that's bad. We need to do something about it.

  • Good idea, I love fish. I've never eaten carp though, is it yummy?

  • That was my question exactly (below) if these fish are edible why can't we feed the hungry people of the country or other countries or use that fish in cat or dog food. Why have cats and dog food made up of more endangered species (salmon etc.) when these carp can fill a food need.

  • Can't they be used to feed people?
