@TheHARDMAN2009 is thats the case then it the flying scotman should be ready for mallards anaversary so you'll have two great LNER trains back on the main line... all through i prefer GWR's but thats just me :)
personally I think the music suits this kind of video superbly..It has a more of a documentary feel to it..Don't think the Ojays would fit it at-all. Would of ruined your great video...
Well, I was at the NRM this week, and there's much less of the Flying Scotsman in one piece now. They started in 2004, so at the rate they're going, I'd say they'll be lucky if they get her steamed and running again in 2013. 2014 might be nearer the mark.
Actually, scrap that - it was 2007 when they started. Still - 2 years to pull it all apart & I'm sure it'll take longer to piece it all back together again.
Can someone tell me when she is goin to be in steam again 2009/2010?. Mabe after the NRM have finished work on the Flying scotsman they could then get to work on restoring Mallard? Hope so because i absoulutly love to see both the Flying scotsman and Mallard in steam together!
I wouldn't say its my most loved engine, in fact its not in my top 10, But i have to say it is a great engine to have been saved (Not many have been), Rather big shop isn't it?.....My Little Scenic line is fixing a 2-8-0 and there working inside a boxcar with some hammers and a torch :D if there was a part they haven't made from scratch im sure i would of heard about it
Even if the fiscal will existed to build a super steam engine (Oil still isn't expensive enough) it certainly wouldn't be of a type as small as the A3. It would almost certainly be some type of large mallet or garratt, producing power somewhere in the 5000hp range. Keep in mind that the A3 was quite a concervative design at the time. I suspect something closer to the T1 and Q1 types of the PRR.
Yeah, this music is something from YouTube's stupid library. I think that using music on youtube videos actually promotes the artists, rather than detracting from what they are doing. It might encourage people to download it for real. Besides, I only used music that was already here on YouTube!
Nice video - a well equipped workshop with room 2 move in unlike mine!
Scotsman is a great loco,I have seen her so many times, but the time that sticks in my mind most was the month b4 she went to Australia. She was pulling out of Stratford on Avon running in, and they let her slip - big time! I was about 14 then, stood next to her driving rods watching them thrash away. The driver watched me applaud, and he gave me the thumbs up. Tyseley works turned her tyres b4 visiting Oz.Mallard 2 Oz next?
Yes i hope the the mallard does come to australia but with tornado and flying scotsman. More happy gunzels with 3801 on steam extravaganza for gunzels 0 0 \/
Gresley Pacific. That means this is a three-cylinder job, right? Here in Japan we only have the faulty C53 class that has that mechanism, so I know very little about it. But it does make things more complicated than with the restoration of a JNR class C56 that Oigawa Railway completed last year.
Anyone willing to spend their time and talent to keep a steam locomotive alive and away from the torches, or keep them from rusting away in seclusion are alright with me.
At St-Constant railroad meseum, Exporail, we have a Flying Scotsman, the Dominion of Canada. Very cool engine! Check this video out, you can see it at 0:45. /watch?v=ee4slHjy79c
I agree, Innyahsa, I think the locomotive is better looking without the smoke deflectors. I'm not sure why they did add them--perhaps someone could leave a comment here and let us know. Seems like it couldn't be a law because there are other historic trains that aren't fitted with them.
The reason why they put them on because they said it was period accurate,HEy dumbasses SHE DDINT HAVE THE EARS ON BACVK THEN LIKE OTHER A3'S TAKE THEM OFF
the nrm only has a small number of engineering staff and are trying to do as much as possible in house. they are also running 4771 green arrow at the same time and doing boiler repairs to 850 lord nelson. not a five minute job!
I don't know what it takes to be trusted to get to drive this thing, but since it's pretty much priceless I bet you have to have a lot of experience. Good luck!
under steam in 2009 b++++++S you mean 2012 more like in 2010 its a rolling chassis
