one of the major reasons for fatalities is NOT because people aren't buckled up. It's because the natural reaction for many people is to swerve to avoid hitting the deer. I can't count the # of head-on collisions I've seen involving someone freaking out and swerving into oncoming traffic.

Secondly, accidents involving deer aren't limited to over-populated areas. Anywhere there is a road, there are bound to be deer crossing them. It happens just as much in rurally-populated areas.

Deer are dangerous if cornered they can easily KILL you. My Car was damaged when my wife was on the way to work,a large buck was in the middle of the road at top of a hill 2200.00 I had JUST got our car from the body shop after another deer incident. I don't hunt but support hunters if they kill for food and not to just kill. But one reason for more accidents with deer is that our urban sprawl is getting bigger causing a more dense deer population in a smaller area. I would bet if they surveyed where the majority of accidents occured they would find areas very highly concentrated due to smaller living spaces for deer rather than in just random places anywhere.

Those states have the most hunters so that means hunting causes deer vehicle accident. Deer are populated for hunters recreational purpose.

This is from PA Game Commission which still rejects deer birth control.

Plus DVA's are the highest during hunting season for all the deer are populated ready for the killing and hunters spooking the deer out of the forests.

If you have a truck or suv brush and cattle gaurds usuall work pretty well but if you get hit from the side your screwed. But hey free venison either way. You will see them in the summer (we have them in NJ dead on the road ) but its highest during the hunting season. So long as there have hunting in the state you can guarantee overpopulation and deer vehicle accident. Hunting org need the abundance to keep excuses to hunt every year and they like to see the mangled car that way fear would make public accept hunting even though majority abhors it.

Did you know hunting org tries to negate fencing and deer birth control and you know why? Because they do not want anyone to interfere with their "deer management" meaning they need to have overpopulation year after year and need the mangled car to put fear in the public and keep the hunting going. Its not just rut season its hunting season and wisconsin and Texas are big hunting state. Proves to you right here that hunting is not about "reducing" DVA's if that was the case it would not be on the rise.

For $10 you can get deer whistles to go on the front of your car. The Highway Patrol in my State went from about 90 collisions with deer to none by just putting the whistles on the patrol cars. They do work, but even though I have them I still drive like I don't have them. Especially at night. I don't understand why they don't come standard on all cars. Hell we get cup holders.
