@notnilccm Because Neil is playing along with Geddy and Alex as well. Also, they write the music together, so all three know where it's supposed to go.
This is off of the Rush Chronicles VHS and DVD. I think this is the best version of the Trees. It was done as a warm up for a show they did so many years ago. You or they (the makers of Rock Band) should have left the wood block beats in at the end of the song.
While trolling around Rush videos, one user identified it as the track from the performance of this song that the boys did for the promotional video of the song, which appears on the Rush Chronicles DVD... I'm willing to believe this assumption as the minor differences are almost identical as are the outros.
i tell ya the thing about Neil..is 1) he tunes his drums different then almost all..2) almost every chorus he plays o all songs are different!..and that to me makes all the difference man..he is a amazing drummer...he has many versions of this song,so i wouldn't argue about what its from or if its him..its great..even if its someone else, they did a hell of a job..sure sounds like him..but the tunings of the drums sound a bit loose for him..all the same the wood deal he does is just to cool man
Not ESL...hi hats in the intro the the 5/4 bridge are different (1:58 to 2:06). With ESL...he's using his foot to open 'em up all the way thu the pasaage...here, just playing a syncopated beat on closed hi-hats. This sounds alot like the live Trees version that came from the side two/Hemispheres videos.
the cymbals crashes say Neil, the version seems to be ESLeft. but the 32nd notes are Neil.... those who doubt, don't know.... also the woodblock progression is wrong... he needed to start higher then go low..... itssound like ESLeft to me......
you sure this isn't the drum track from exit..stage left? the middle bridge where neil throws in some splash cymbals sounds just like what the played on that live albums version.
@scootermojo if this was the ESL drum track, then there would be a LOT more bleedthrough. This is an alternate take of The Trees, not the original drum track
@scootermojo This track is from The Trees (better sound). Straight from Chronicles the DVD, it's a sound check version and the best one. If I were to rate my top five Rush tunes this would be in there somewhere.
Rush - proof that a Christian, a Jew and agnostic can live side by side by side and make transcendent music.
@gitchigoomi Sorry, my time machine wasn't working, if it was I would've viewed this video for the first time 3 weeks ago and commented earlier to make you feel better.
@Ace4217 lol dude....it's not about how quickly or slowly you responded. It's about how you completely missed the irony. Gitchi was joking when he said "I think he's gonna make it." Obviously he knows who Neil Peart is, and how great he is...
I have the original version of the trees on my ipod, but I vastly prefer the vault edition on rock band 2 mainly with how Neil's temple block solo sounds and his hi-hat work following the solo. That and the ending where Geddy stretches out the part where he says "Saw". On the original he just says it quick and there's no more echoic guitar afterwards.
@jeffkdrums This is Neil playing , you can see this live performance for tv ie no audience in 1978 on bonus material on either r30 on snakes and arrows dvd's.
Why do you guys insist on going to every isolated track and trying to debunk it? Find other, less idiotic ways to spend your time. This is Peart as everyone else but you knows.
Hi, how are you? Could you tell me the program you used to isolate the track? I'll thank you so much. And I have a Mac... Do you know if exist any program to isolate tracks for Mac?
@Frozen4322 This was actually extracted as a FILE off the rockband disc. For the newer stuff on new rock band games for which encryption hasn't been broken yet, i guess you could try it that way.

@Lujodedetalles He turned all the other instruments down on Rock Band, then recorded the drums, by my guess going into practice mode on vocals.
