This is just great. Thanks so much for posting. I really enjoyed this film. The plot is yet another variation on Clouzot's much imitated 'Les Diaboliques' but it's a good one with a light, frothy feel & the female leads - especially the wonderful Nieves Navarro as the heroines nymphomaniac best friend - are terrific. Great fun!
Does anyone know a track that is similar to this (especially around 1:27 with the note that Dell'orso sings)? It has a slightly lower tempo, I believe it is in the same key, and earlier on in the song Dell'orso sings a lot of "doo doo doo doo doo". Thanks.
I'm not too fond of the Lounge discothemes from this score. All that really matters on the FOTO PROHIBITE cd are track 1 and 2. So delightful, so CLEVER. I really don't understand why people call Elvis a god, or John Williams. Come on. The one and only god in music you hear right here. And still you haven't heard a thing. 300 scores? 400? The man is so incredibly, impossible DIVERSE.
@dedeurs I agree with you!!! But critics in anglo-american world of showbusiness don'like interferences in sales/revenues from artists out of their control
If Morricone was english or american ???? How many prizes, awards, tributes...money he could have earned????
As a born-and-bred American, Morricone would never have composed like the Morricone we now know. Don't forget he's through and though Southern European, and started out in a moviebusiness that was influenced by American cinema but developed according to it's own styles. For Americans, EM often sounds too alien. I wouldn't be surprised, for instance, that his beautiful use of aleatora ('fog' of violins) has an unsettling effect on Americans. But correct me if I'm wrong!
Anyway, the guys with musicology expertise, the American filmcomposers, regard EM as a genius and are influenced by him. But it's not the filmcomposers who hire Morricone to do a moviescore...
But there's also the matter of bad handling of his music by American producers/directors. Somehow he and them often clashed. Such a pity, WHITE DOG, DAYS OF HEAVEN, THE THING are so brilliant.
@dedeurs .You're right, but it' clear that USA establishment has always evaluated Ennio's creations so unjust and unfair.incredibly, despite the Oscar nominations for "Days of Heaven (1978) T. Malick, "The Mission" (1986) R. Joffe, "The Untouchables" (1987) Brian De Palma's "Bugsy" (1991) B. Levins and also "The legend of the pianist on the ocean," has never received this important recognition that in his case, certainly more than others, it would be deserved.
This and Woman In A Lizard's Skin are the best Morricone EVER! He needs to perform these in his live shows.
