way to use kids in your political advertising, also nuclear reserves can last thousands of years, uranium is a very common element, and so it thorium, both can be used to make safe, clean powerplants which can run the worlds power for thousands of years, also how will we get power on a calm night?
Nuclear reactors produce clean, safe and reliable energy. Canadian CANDU reactors can be retooled to take spent uranium rods from other reactors and continue to generate power from them. Nuclear "waste" is recyclable and, more often than not still fissile (that is to say still usable for the purposes of generating electricity) without the need for further processing. More importantly, for countries without large sunny deserts such as France, nuclear power generates constant and reliable power.
Meanwhile, as the greens talk about building ridiculously enormous solar plants that produce pitiful amounts of energy, Australia continues to get most electricity from coal.
A 35sqkm concentrating solar array could power all of Australia's energy needs. If you wanted to power Australia with nuclear, you'd need many times that area for the mines, the transport, the power plants and the waste dumps.
Wind power would be cheaper if nuclear didn't recieve subsidies for mining? Are you serious? If so, please stop making a total fool of yourself. The fuel is less then 1% of the cost of running a plant, even if it became fifty times more expensive that would only add a few cents per KWh. And there is a 99.99% safe way of getting rid of waste, reprocessing, the French already do it. Nothing is 100% safe, including Solar Panels, their manufacture, transport and installation all put people in danger
The only reason that I believe the government is going for nuclear is to support the mining industry. Without the government subsidies that the mining industry gets for mining uranium, wind would be cheaper. (It's not just the output as well, as wind power is better able to spread the load across the country, rather than being generated in one spot an loosing energy in distribution.)
You people havent been around for 250,000 years so you don't know what you are talking about regarding nukes. High world cancer rates are also directly related to nuclear fallout. Vote 1 Green Party and leave the stuff underground.
Horrible commercial. You could also use uranium to fuel nuclear reactors and then recycle it like the french are doing.Third generation reactors are highly efficient and safe. This technology could help us be more energy independent and help reduce CO2 emissions.
highly efficient and safe? What about the recent massive leak at Sellafield's Thorp reprocessing plant in the UK that went unnoticed for months? Search for Sellafield radioactive leak - and this is your idea of safe reprocessing?
Oh, and the significant leaks following the earthquake in Japan that caused serious damage to a power plant causing dangerous spills into the air and sea. Nuclear is not safe, uranium is not safe and neither are clean or econmically viable. Export renewables not cancer.
andresfusion has no idea what they are talking about, sounds like they studied economics and didn't research or bother to read anything about the nuclear issue. sadly these people control the agenda. READ!

Thank satan for the beautiful element of uranium
Go nuclear!
Uranium is not just in bombs, it's also in safe reactors
Fusion is the best kind of nuclear reactions which the end product is helium
Fission is another great nuclear reaction which produces radioactive waste which we could recycle to make bionuclear or chemonuclear weapons!

Stick with the Greens if you love burning coal.

I strongly support the Greens on this issue.
Until there is a 100% safe way of getting rid of the waste, then I think it should be left in the ground.

The only research in favour or nuclear power, or the oxymoronic notion of 'clean coal' is the research from both polluting industries.
"Trust us" said the gambler to the casino, said Labor and Liberals to voters. "Trust us on global warming".
Moreover, The Greens are better urban planners. Freeways are retarded.

Lol, get over yourselves Greens! Your never going to be in power. Only hardcore environmentalists vote for you, and thats not enough.

Hmm interesting. I agree that we should protect the planet for our children, but not for our children's children...
I don't believe that children should be having children ;)

Yes stop uranium we can have gerbils running on wheels to provide all our power for us.

all in all i believe nuclear nrg to b quite safe.

And Nuclear is the most ridiculous and expensive way to boil water. Water of which we do not have much.
