@coessen Red Army consisted from peasants and simple people. Also some tsarist officers like Zhukov (famous soviet ww2 general during 1941-1945) joined the Red Army. Zhukov had many tsarists medals, but he joined the Red Army! Also, the composer of this march Agapkin also joined the Red Army.

They lost because the Reds controled the means of productions and with every mile the whites advanced the Red's supply lines got shorter. Its all logistics, logistics win wars because man for man the whites had better troops for the most part. Even the famous first Konarmiya was only barely up to par with the fighting abbilities of the various cossack hosts in the south. If you attempt to agrue this fact I will smash you with more examples.

Cossacks are freemen. They ran away from various estates in the 15th-17th Centuries. They settlled in the Ukraine as the Zaparozhian Host in the Don as the Don host. They are fiercly independent people. The had their own government of electing Atamans. They don't like people from the interior of Russia telling them what to do and that includes soviets who they saw as a foreign entity invading their lands that they worked for hundreds of years taking their grain to feed the almight proletariot.

Then let me explain, the lyrics of this song are about historical Russia (which has nothing to do with "internationalist", tyrannical, oppressive, murderous ussr), and about it having been "sold" and betrayed, while also calling for every patriot to stand up and fight for it.
The lyrics dont name any foes specifically but it's very clear to any (Russian speaking) listener, who it refers to. Besides, I like the melody
