I am pleasantly surprised by this version (is it the original one?). I have always hated Lou Rawls for his fucking awful crooning ("If I Only Had Time", "The Girl From Ipanema"...) but I admit here he rocks. I always thought that the Nashville Teens recorded this first. The early Lou Rawls is probably more interesting that the late one.

Try to avoid text messaging your friends while driving when you receive your learner's permit. If all you ever heard by Lou was stuff like "You are gonna miss my love" I can understand not liking Lou. But If you check his pre commercial work you find classics like St James Infirmary and Street Corner Hustlers Blues, among others. Try to find his live recording from around 1866 and you'll see what I mean.
