  • I wish you every success, Brenda. We have our anti-red puppet parrots here in the UK too - you cannot reason with the unreasonable so I don't waste my time trying to discuss things with capitalist lackeys. The future for humankind is either socialism or barbarism and that will be decided by the populations of all countries on this small planet of ours. Best wishes from a Pommie commie!

  • Hi all, interested in taking part in a campaign for full employment and the rights of the unemployed and underemployed in Australia? Please leave me your details and I will contact you. Unfortunately the rights of individuals who are unemployed or underemployed in Australia are being whittled away with just this week the announcement of greater restrictions on unemployed people. including the introduction of restrictions regarding how the unemployed use their benefits/money. Brenda Kellaway

  • Fuck communism...most people are unemployed because they are too fucking slack to get off their fat lazy arses, get a degree or apprenticeship and get a job. That's the truth of the matter and fucking communism wont solve anything.

  • @Jimmy4738 Can you please leave out the swearing some people are offended by this, stick to your point please. In answer I know many, many people who have more than one university degree or qualification that are currently unemployed. Apparently you are ignorant of what is occurring. Don't you watch the news? More and more people are being made redundant/losing their jobs in Australia everyday through no fault of their own. I suggest you check your facts before making such sweeping comments.

  • @brendakellaway Big response coming from a failed school teacher :P.

  • @Jimmy4738 How would you assess a successful teacher? The vast majority of my students have improved in both their knowledge of the subject and marks. Yes I do have proof in the form of assessment tasks and marks of students. I suggest that instead of launching personal and bassless attacks that you consider the topic. What would you do about unemployment? Do you have an argument or is it limited to personal attacks?

  • Hi all, unfortunately unemployment and underemployment is on the rise in Australia. If you are interested in taking part in a campaign for full employment please let me know. Thousands of Australian families are suffereing as a result of the lack of employment or enough employment, we should all be able to work as there is plenty of work to be done. Instead of spending needless money fighting wars we should never have been involved in lets look after our people by providing secure employment.

  • This is still a great video clip. Only socialism and communism can resolve unemployment. So to all fellow workers, lets overthrow capitalism and sieze political power and march towrads a brighter future, a communist future!!!

  • @ValandurOfArnor, Hi sorry but you are obviously out of touch, Russia is a Capitalist country now. How would you solve unemployment? any ideas?

  • Dear all, like I said prior, I will accept any comments or opinions but I won't accept mere abusive language, I want to keep this site for the general public so mere abusive language is not acceptable and will be removed. Opinions will stay, abusive language will not. As for comments like " Communism is a joke" like below, you obviously don't have an argument, mere statements like this don't mean anything.

  • @ValandurOfArnor Tell me what do you know about Stalin? Do you know anything more than the actual name? Can you tell me what was happening at the time? My feeling is that probably you know very little about history at that time. Joseph Stalin was a Russian! I have ancestory that can be traced back to the first fleet here. Why can't you students try to stick to the point we are discussing here. Talk about something you know about. How would you resolve unemployment? Got any ideas?

  • I SUPORT COMUMISN

  • While your at it downrigger, why don't you look at another article in the Sydney Morning Herald last weekend, page 14 of the 'News Review' the heading is " Old voices dominate new stage". The article is about how the people who have dominated our media in the past are making moves now to dominate the new media such as many internet areas, enjoy reading. Our mass media has been dominated by Capitalists for some considerable time.

  • Hi Downrigger. the mass media, including the ABC is controlled by a handful of capitalists, why don't you look up who the members of the ABC board. I found several articles in last weekend's Herald that point out the influence of this handful of Capitalists, have a look at those. On pg 19 of the Sydney Herald, is an Article how Murdoch " Spiked story that might have beat Menzies"page 19, Murdoch according to this article " Bowed to pressure from the White House to surpress the biggest story...

  • I can't believe this downrigger person ! Does he think I didn't see cars, when I saw millions? But this is getting off the topic and perhaps that is downriggers purpose to distract from this issue of unemployment. It is serious in Australia and elsewhere and becoming more serious every day, we need to do something about it. Please email me brendakellaway@hotmail.com and join our campaign for full employment.

  • Now the elections are over but the problem of unemployment remains. If you are interested in being involved in our campaign for full employment in Australia please send me your details to brendakellaway@hotmail.com. I will let you all know about upcoming events. Thanks again to all those who have voted for us in the elections. Brenda

  • Hi all, thanks again for everyone's support ! Regarding the Mutual Obligation scheme. Under the current Mutual Obligation scheme in Australia people are forced to complete courses that often will go for weeks and are often full time. These courses are not programed by any educational body I am aware of and tend to be of poor quality. Let's abolish mutual obligation and instead have public run job centres and get these unenemployed people jobs!

  • communism in practice tends to be somewhat different, as those who have lived in the 20th century know. Communism as practiced by Lenin, Stalin and Chairman Mao is an entirely different proposition. This kind of communism sets up an authoritarian government, with the best goods and services going to those in government.

  • @nocommunism1 Re: Authoritarian perpahs we should look at Australia first. In the Northern Territory at present those who are recieving benefits have to justify what they are spending their money on. They are given managers to decide for them how to spend their small amount of benefit. There are plans to extend this nation wide. How about the Mutual Obligations scheme? In this scheme people are forced to complete useless courses leading nowhere otherwise they lose their benefits.

  • Hi all, thank you for the support you have shown.

  • As private industry contracts during cycles of boom and bust, workers are shed and their skills are lost. Yet before 1975, under full employment policies there was always a healthy public sector where workers could be employed and stay experienced, keep their skills up to date on the job and be trained as apprentices for the next boom. Whereas now we don't even try to train young people on the job because its cheaper to import trained workers from overseas and our own unemployed cannot compete.

  • Bob Menzies supported full employment in Australia, was he a Communist?

  • Brenda, take away the secret police and labor camp guards and communist countries would have 20% unemployment. As to the railways, ever rode them in a socialist state? The DPRK still uses rails and rolling stock supplied by the Japanese in WWII.

  • @downriggershop The rails and rolling stock, repairs and train building were in the past completed by the Australian public sector railyards employing Australians. We need employment here. In the Communist countries you are refering to, people are now joining the Communists in droves, why? Because Capitalism creates unemployment and hardship for the majority of people like in Russia where the mafia rules much of the country today.

  • @downriggershop ***Because Capitalism creates unemployment and hardship for the majority of people like in Russia***

Hardship like the gulag, Brenda? Hardship like the Ukrainian famine? Hardship like watching the nomenklatura get free cars and dachas, while everyone else suffers in misery? There's no tyranny like Red tyranny, can't understand why you want Australians to suffer that too.

  • @downriggershop Listen, I went to the Soviet Union in 1983 did you every go? I reckon not, what are you basing your information on? Comic strips? Old 1960's cold war movies it seems to me. When I was in the Soviet believe me you wouldn't have wanted a car there was that many of them on the roads!!! You were much better off going by public transport, which by the way was much better than going by car because there was a train every 2 minutes/ bus every 2 minutes. I suggest you do some research.

  • @downriggershop When I was in the Soviet in 1983 I didn't see any suffering at all, quite the opporsite!!! Everyone had a job, enough to eat and drink, free education, free healthcare, transport for a small cost. So now they have Capitalism they have the Russian Mafia, no job or little work and hardship, much hardship. Perhaps those that were in jail were actually criminals, do we have jails? Ever thought of that? I suspect not.

  • @brendakellaway You saw what you wanted to see, Brenda. The Reds have easily hypnotised Western idealists like yoursel,f ever since the days of Walter Duranty. While Duranty was lauding the Soviets with exactly your words of praise for the New York Times, millions were dying of planned starvation in the Ukraine and elsewhere. Read Anne Applebaum's 'Gulag.' And, open your eyes.

  • @downriggershop. I was in the Soviet Union for five whole months. I stood in Red square, I went to people's homes, I went where I wanted and when I wanted. I stood in the middle of the street with millions of cars around me, I went to cafes and restuarants and bars and I spoke to whoever I wanted. I suppose that was hypnosis, get real ! If anyone has been indoctrinated it is you. Who do you think owns the New York Times?. Wake up the mass media is controlled by a handful of capitalists.

  • @brendakellaway ***wake up the mass media is controlled by a handful of capitalists***

Turn it up, Brenda. The ABC is controlled by capitalists?

  • Yeah, I reckon the Gulag guards were public sector employees ...

  • @johnnypoker46

What are you trying to say? Don't you think it is a good idea to have full employment?

we can have full employment here by employing people in socially useful jobs such as on the railways. If we had a better railway service, better staffed so we could have more trains, more efficient and had people on the railway stations at night more people would be inclined to use the trains and this would also help our environment.

  • @johnnypoker46 Hi Johnny, how would you solve the unemployment problem then ?Johnny. You haven't said anything about the issue at all and this is really telllng, it means you don't really have a policy. Stick to the issue, name calling is just a poor excuse for not having a policy.

  • Youtube is a tool of american imperialism! Crush america!!! Crush youtube!!!! Crush the internet!!!!!

  • So 'unemployed' people with their spouses working - aka stay at home mothers - should be forced to work whether they want to or not?

  • @bloodslides No we are not saying that at all. We are saying that the official figuers do not include many people who want to work. If you have a spouse who earns a certain amount then, even if you want to work, you are not included in the figuers of the unemployed. In fact there are many other ways that the government removes people from the unemployment figuers. We've always been in favour of parental leave and assistance.

  • Great stuff. About time pricked the BS about unemployment of between 4 and 5%. Something should be said about the other great laughable statistic - inflation and CPI increases of around 3%. I'd love to know where the "experts" get their housing, transport and groceries
