Unusual version of this old Jacobite song. Refers to Battle of Prestonpans, where Prince Charlie's Highlanders put English General Cope;s troops to flight. Scottish now play it their reveille once per week, usually starting outside the junior officers; billets. It sure is a rude awakening when played by Scottish piepes and drums outside your window!
I love this ancient version of Johnny Cope. Legend has it that this version was sung by the Gordon Highlanders together at dinner the night before they want out with the Union Brigade to fight with Napoleon at Waterloo. The next morning all their pipers under the command of Pipe Major Cameron played this version while they fought and devastated the French lines. I love playing this on the pipes as it is a hornpipe song played very fast. It stirs the blood! BYDAND Forever!

4:00 sounds like O'Donnell's Return, a favorite of mine. Planxty is great.

Got my first ever tattoos to this. Came out of the studio feeling like my arm was on fire and my testicles had somehow grown three sizes.
