I feel SUPER blessed that I was able to see Roger in concert a couple years before he passed. His concert was HANDS DOWN the best concert that I've ever been to (even better than UP IN SMOKE TOUR). Roger could actually sing. He's not using "auto-tune". He sings in tune. The talk box is connected to the keyboard and simultaneously singing the notes he's playing on the synthesizer. THAT took skill and was his signature sound. I would hardly compare that to the crap Little Wayne does. He sounds horrible live. Go check around Youtube. He's aweful live.

@MB3Productions Well actually, the talkbox is a horn driver (basically a speaker), but all the sound is concentrated to one hole. a barb is attached to the hole and the tube goes on the barb. So all that roger is doing is manipulating the sound of the keyboards synth with his mouth. It has nothing to do with singing at all. I know because I have built them before. But, being in the talented musician that Roger was, he could sing on note and did background vocals for his songs.

@MB3Productions you have no idea how a talk-box works, do you? sound from the synthesizer goes into the tube and into the mouth, the mouth acts as a speaker, when you change the positions of your mouth, it changes pitch. All you're doing when you use a talkbox is mouthing the words.

auto-tune takes the pitch you're singing at and 'slides' it to the notes you tell it to, so you're always in tune a talkbox sends the sound of a keyboard into your mouth, you then 'mouth' the words and record it with a microphone for auto-tune you can just talk on a mic for talkbox you must play the notes on a keyboard and then make word shapes with your mouth at the same time (much more skill involved)
