I have the set of drums that were used in this video in my studio. This is the first time I have found any film of them being used live. We all sure do miss Waylon. Hokey Sloan
Thanks so much for the post of this video clip. You were so lucky to have seen him perform and to still have the video of the concert. Boy, those guitar licks ol Waylon did are just great. I sure miss Waylon and listen to him all of the time.
Wow that is vintage. I seen him in concert right around that time. In Missoula MT I was in high school. And A few more times in the late 80s in Washington State, The last time in Idaho Falls Id. I noticed there that he wasn't pickin as much, And had red bandana around his wrist. But it was still a hell of a show.
I used to be strictly rock and roll....actually made fun of country music. I was dragged to a Waylon show right around the time that "Good Ole Boys" came out. Let me tell you, Waylon kicked ass. He gave it 110%, unlike a lot of singers that just sorta whip through their old hits(Hank Jr). I was an instant convert. RIP Waylon.
Hey Josh I was there too. I think I was 13 at the time. I am now 41. It was one of the best shows I ever saw. I still have my T-shirt I got there. Cant wear it anymore....lol but I still got it
i was raised won waylon and willie merle and hank im 31 yrs old now and still listen to all of the classic country and classic rock.they dont make much country music anymore what you get now is some city boy that thinks he can sing gets sombody to write his songs and he sings them.country music comes from hard living not someone that has had everything gave to them there whole life
@chevyracer197909 same here dude im 31 all so andi was raised on thes classic country songs and this song reminds me of me and my brother where just good ol boy's .
I, like you monster4josh, was at this concert. I'm a little older and have to confess I did spend some time in the beer garden. When Waylon came on I was right up front. I really got into Waylon when I got back in 66' from serving the USMC in Viet Nam. I've seen him in concert 6 times and each time was better than the last. On my dresser is a picture taken of Waylon and I shaking hands after one of his shows. He is one of my hero's. There are those today that wouldn't be fit to tune his guitar.
Thanks for commenting! Waylon was a great musician (his guitar playing was way under-rated) and a unique singer, and passed away way too young. My first listen to Waylon must have been on the "Wanted! The Outlaws" album--still one of my favorites! I been to 4 or 5 Waylon shows, mostly at arenas, but I would have loved to have seen him play at some small club down in Arizona back in the day!
@2135618 Excepting the offerings of Jamey Johnson and Eric Church, I'd really question if any of today's "country acts" are even worthy of LOOKING at Waylon's guitar. Even sadder than his loss, too, is that he'll be remembered more as the balladeer on the Dukes than for his real talents. Too good, too young....
about year and half before he died I saw he was to play shreveport coliseium....Sold out.............Stood outside offered $250.00 a ticket needed 2. nobody would sell....... God bless Waylon......I just missed ya that time hoss!
Waylon was a big influence on so many, including myself, yet I don't feel he gets the respect he deserves. To me, he was an icon--larger than life--but at the same time Waylon had a lot of SOUL, and was a down to earth man. He was the link between the old Rock n Roll days of Buddy Holly, and the 'new' country of the late 60s-70s.
Puts tears in a 210 pound man's eyes... That's the music and the spirit of my upbringing. My middle name is Weylin... A purposeful mispelling by my mother..... What can I say... He's still the "act to beat" in country music, period!
OMG, I am so glad I found this one! Waylon at his prime and the greatest song writer/singer ever!!You're right about his energy, he puts his heart and soul into a performance.
I know what you mean dimesos. Waylons body of work is astounding in its variety not to mention quality - there are many gems that he recorded that a lot of people have never even heard of.

Waylon was simply an hurricane.
He was one of the greatest musician since the rock&roll revolution.
I'm tired of him being labelled always with the same "country-outlaw-dukes of hazzard" stuff, he was great in an universal meaning.
