your videos are splendid, showing the power of 7d, including manual zoom limit, of course.
But the thing I wanted to tell you, for which I wrote, is that the Canon has a very good microphone and resumes eating the squirrel. But... can you avoid pulling on the nose every 5 / 7 seconds?? this is annoying for those who look and listen! Do not be angry, but listen to my advice, blow your nose before turning on the Canon, or at least avoid making all that noise, ruining everything!
I agree the noise is annoying, what you can hear is my friend's camera taking photos and me breathing, please appreciate we had been outside for a few hours in the cold.
I wanted to show the video quality of the camera, internal microphones of stills cameras are not really that good. The Canon only has a mono microphone. An external microphone would be better, but if I wanted to record video and sound properly I'd buy a camcorder.
I would really really appreciate it if you did a review of this lens. Many people knock it for the push pull zoom and it not being as good as the 70-200mm. I'd like to see how it performs in a hands on test on a crop sensor body. Thanks.
Brilliant shot! Did you shoot with liveview or through the view finder? What zoom is it shot at? Do you find the 28-300 is pretty much a 'one lens quiver' on the 7D? My fiancée doesn't believe me, but I NEED that lens right?
@PH33R2k You cant shoot video through the view finder, as the sensor needs to be exposed to the light constantly. The zoom was at somewhere between 200-300mm. I do find it a one lens quiver but I wish Canon would make a lighter one as after a while lugging it around a while your arms began to ache.
Beautiful video. Do you remember what scaling, compression etc you used to put the video on youtube. I have a 7D too and am struggling to find a good combination
Did you use a tripod to shoot these clips? And I was wondering if the locking mechanism for the zoom is stable or if it's loose like some reviews claim.
@Corporatereject Yes I did use a tripod, use need to use a tripod to shoot steady video as both the camera and lens weighs 2.5kg. The locking mechanism on the 28-300mm lens is adjustable. On the lens there is a locking ring next to the focus ring which if you turn on way makes the zoom smoother, turn it the other way it tightens up until it becomes fully locked.
@Jondave289 Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info. I was debating whether to buy this lens or wait for the 70-200 IS ii coming out in April. I'll probably be getting that one.
Nice video the squirrel looks fat. Thank you for share .

@s343754 I use Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0 and compress my videos to MPEG2 1920x1080i 25fps for YouTube.
