When you break it all down, circumcision is essentially a cosmetic procedure or form of body modification which is performed to attain what many misguided people believe is the perfect form for a penis. After-all, when was the last time they made sex-toys with foreskins? I believe that religion is for most people just a facade to justify the continuation of this barbaric practice.

The Jewish community is trying to keep forced male circumcision legal in the US, saying it's their religious right to cut off part of someone else's body without their consent. I do bone marrow biopsies, but thats to treat kids with cancer, and that hurts way more than cutting foreskin (I don't care how many cutaneous nerves you can count) without their "permission" because I do it in their best interest and with their parents permission. Circumcision similarly saves lives, decreases transmission of HIV (by as much as 60%) and cervical cancer. I am personally circumcised and enjoy sex just fine, too. Enough with the hate, get educated.

I'm jewish, and I'm circumcised. I don't understand this "debate", as if jews are the only ones who perform circumcision. In fact, of all circumcisions performed in the world, jews make up a tiny minority, muslims a large majority. It's like everything else, people will "blame the jews", while ignoring the fact that many non-jews do the exact same thing. As for the debate, there is no debate, circumcision will continue, as it has for countless centuries among many different groups.

I do bone marrow biopsies, but thats to treat kids with cancer, and that hurts way more than cutting foreskin (I don't care how many cutaneous nerves you can count) without their "permission" because I do it in their best interest and with their parents permission. Circumcision similarly saves lives, decreases transmission of HIV (by as much as 60%) and cervical cancer. I am personally circumcised and enjoy sex just fine, too. Enough with the hate, get educated.

I am well aware that the recommendations were initially to circumcise CONSENTING ADULT MEN but that quickly was forgotten when a few opportunistic charlatans rushed in to do business cutting children.
This is not an issue of PAIN the issue is about CONSENT. INFORMED CONSENT.

@Phargus81 The WHO and UN are not perfect, much like your Rabbis. In fact, the WHO and UN are political organisations with political motives. Since when did you trust politicians to be objective and moral? There is a lot of money to be made through infant circumcision (a billion dollar a year industry in the US alone) and from vaccinations.
The umbilical cord will fall off of its own accord if not cut. The foreskin is a natural and normal part of the penis, from birth till death.

@jerseygrl5 Get over it. Children cry when they are born. Children cry for no reason at all. In any event, no one remembers getting circumcised as a child. I think God that my mom cut that ugly foreskin off my penis. I didn't know the difference, I didn't miss anything. I didn't even know that I was circumcised and until I saw other dudes who weren't circumcised. My penis looks much better than theirs. I would not like to go through life with an ugly penis.

(Although the odds of you wanting this if you lived in a non-circumcising culture are almost zero) Many men who were cut as babies now wish they could have a complete penis. There are innumerable scientific articles showing that circumcision prevents the transmission of infections - including AIDS at a level equivalent to a high efficacy vaccination. I'm a doctor and don't like transmission of bad/incomplete information.

@Phargus81 Well I'm a human being and I don't care for people who hide behind medical degrees to surgically tamper with the genitals of children. You can cut as much of your own penis off, if you think it will "protect" you from something, (or if you prefer the abbreviated and scarred look.) You can cut part of someone else's penis off as long as they are a fully informed adult who consents, but to do this to an infant or child is morally and ethically wrong, and make you look like a quack.

We've been conditioned to believe we can't publicly criticize certain ethnic or gender groups, especially if the ethnicity is jewish or the gender is female. This has resulted in boys being forced to receive abuse to their bodies when both of these groups constantly tell us how we must respect THEIR liberties. I'm jewish, and I'm circumcised. I don't understand this "debate", as if jews are the only ones who perform circumcision. In fact, of all circumcisions performed in the world, jews make up a tiny minority, muslims a large majority. It's like everything else, people will "blame the jews", while ignoring the fact that many non-jews do the exact same thing. As for the debate, there is no debate, circumcision will continue, as it has for countless centuries among many different groups.

@Bonobo3D "Jews", I think what you meant to say were "Individual Jews". Most jews are not doctors, and an even smaller number still are doctors either performing or advocating for circumcision. That's like saying because Jeffrey Dahmer was a white Christian, white Christians are homosexual cannibals. It doesn't fly. @josbo51715 We are certainly not making circumcision into a Jewish invention because we know historically that the ancient Egyptians circumcised before the Jews picked up the barbaric practice. Read Jewish American anthropologist Leonard Glick's book, "Marked in Your Flesh" for a good historical and sociological look at this.
Genital mutilation is almost always forced upon children, or strongly encouraged by social coercion, peer pressure of young people.
