  • Nancy really wasnt as good as Tonya . It was sad that it turned out so bitter!

  • @MsPelicanus I agree that Tonya was a much better and more enjoyable skater to watch. She had power, height in her jumps, great execution. Mostly her athletic power was unmatched. I much prefer Harding's skating.

  • she can execute the triple jumps......... slip crash!!!!

  • Nancy was average.Tonya and Kristi really pulled off the jumps... ..Nancy was just along for the ride.. never ever sure of herself or confident and it showed..

  • Nancy was a very good skater. But I see why she wasn't able to complete all her jumps. She's not attacking it enough. She needed to be more agressive. It's not such a bad performance here though, she completed four triples.

  • that this performance won a bronze says something about the depth of ladies skating that year! Compare that to Ashley Wagner's freeskate from 2010.

  • I loved her skating, but she always struck me as a 20-something year old acting like a 12 year old girl... the look, her parents, etc.. It was just weird for some reason. It seemed like it took her a long time to mature and grow up.

  • This is a typical program from Kerrigan, full of mistakes. Her whole career was full of errors. Check out the vids.

She owes, and I do mean owes her entire career to Vera Wang. It was Wang who transformed Nancy's image in 92.

Seriously, Nancy was a mediocre skater at best.

It is amazing what a cosmetic surgeon, styling team, and a top fashion designer can do for someone's image.

Nancy's ice mate Paul Wylie had incredible talent.

  • I think it's called "Born on the Fourth of July."

  • Frostdiamond I can't agree with you. She has already been inducted into an American hall of fame & represented us at 2 Olympic games and 3 world championships either medaling or placing above 3rd. History HAS shown Nancy to be a great skater by her beautiful edges & smooth skating. Few women achieve her level of grace. I think the argument you are making refers to her jumping ability. You can argue that she wasn't a great jumper but she was a great SKATER. Skating is more than jumps.

  • I've watched a number of Kerrigan and Harding skates. I'm British, so don't know all the wierd stuff, but 1991 was the last time Harding looked better. Nancy in this tape wasnt quite ready, but showed enough to say - I'll be there soon.

  • I think that's quite correct. I don't think Nancy was a truly great skater ever in her career; I don't think she had the capability. Even if she had been more consistent I don't think history would have made her one. Of the three top Americans during this period, the one who received the most titles and accolades was really the best--Kristi Yamaguchi. But Nancy had many superb qualities, and in the end was better than Tonya after '91, in my opinion. And she should have won the '94 Olympics.

  • @frostdiamond1 Nancy never seemed like she loved what she was doing and that, combined with her less than ideal body type for skating (tall and muscular) and odd music choices prevent her from ever becoming one of the greats.

  • @tinymavy Disagree about the body type, agree with the music choices

  • I definitely agree with you! I do not believe doubling a jump is a mistake. I've even heard commentators like Dick Button and Scott Hamilton say that doubling a planned triple is not a mistake; you just don't get the credit for doing a triple. But like you said, suraaldy, Nancy had more than enough triple jumps in the 94 olympics to make up for doubling the flip. So, everyone that is critiqueing Nancy needs to zip it.

  • cool music

  • Geezes, when did this Nancy Kerrigan video become a boxing forum?

  • tonya harding probably unscrewed her blade.

  • What I meant by "truly clean" was completing all of the technical content she had planned. This was something Nancy was never able to do- not even once.

  • Nancy's technical abilities at this point were much lower than Yamaguchi and Harding. She did not have a 3loop yet and still struggled to land some of the easier jumps. Want proof that Nancy was a weak technical skater? She never skated a truly clean LP in her entire career. And she was beaten by someone with even lower technical merit- Oksana Baiul. Truly an embarassment.

  • I liked that program!! I always thought she was more interesting than Yamaguchi. She really pulled it together in the end.

  • Yeah, Peggy she's "lady-like" and can land difficult triple jumps. Mary and Evy, you suck, and your choreography is awful. Try Tonya at the same competition for someone who can land triple jumps.

  • Too bad '91 was Tonya's peak. Why do you all hate so much? Nancy never gave up and won TWO OLYMPIC MEDALS. Did you all forget who came out on top? BOOOOYAHHH!!!!!

  • nancy sucks!

  • Like commented before, DON'T HATE! Nancy is beautiful and a fighter! I'll bet you couldn't fight back after an attack like that! GO NANCY! YOU ROCK!

  • Nancy did have the skate of her life because the whole whacking incident forced her to get into the best shape of her life. However, if Tonya had been in peak form, not to mention Kristi or Midori, any one of them would have wiped the floor clean with Nancy in '04. Nancy never landed more than five triples in one program.

  • Do you know your history? Nancy won two prior championships prior to the attack at the Nationals. Beating out Tonya over and over and the other skaters. She's fantastic! Stop with all these "if's." Nancy beat them fair and square! Now let it rest because YOU CAN'T CHANGE HISTORY!

  • lol, do people just sit around dreaming about hypotheticals to undermine her accomplishments? Nancy has proven herself time and again despite ups downs and some tough obstacles. Great skater, strong woman.
