  • This was absolutely fantastic.

  • So beautiful

  • Classic David Nadien's glissando in this beautiful violin playing. Nadien was the concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic during Leonard Bernstein's tenure. A truly underrated violinist.

  • Beautiful video and music. Thanks for sharing.

  • absolutely brilliant playing! Mendelsohn outdid himself with this haunting piece.

  • ¡¡magnífico!!

  • David Nadien's music??

As far as I know it is a transcription of a song of Mendelssohn for violin and piano by Jascha Heifetz.

I think the author means that David Nadien is one of the performers.

Very good performance by the way! But who is the pianist? I think he did very well too.

  • i think the pianist is boris barere, son of the legendary simon

  • @mulimansheid - Actually the transcription is by Joseph Achron. David Nadien is the violinist in the recording.

  • It's the Lied for voice and piano Auf Flügeln des Gesanges by Mendelssohn, transcribed for violin by Heifetz. David Nadien is a well-known concert and orchestral violinist who was for a good while concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic.

  • what a beautiful page by genius composer Mendelssohn, I strongly recommend the version full orchestra by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia orchestra, a golden treasure!

  • overuse of vibrato

  • I believe this is played by the Korean violinist Ms. Sarah Chang.

  • nope

  • This is played by David Nadien, a recording in the early '60s. Sarah Chang was not born yet.

  • do you have this music sheet?
