  • What kinda fuzz did you use around 3:28-3:38? Sounds killer!

  • you originally from boston bro? thats whats up, btw ur covers are great ive been watching them for about 4 years from now, just one question, are you sure that the distortion part is played on all four measures or isnt it just the last 2 measures? i really listened to the song and it sounded like JC only does the distortion on the last 2 measures instead of all four measures

  • is it me or are you gaining weight....

  • Dude were did you buy your wal bass

  • Whoever said bass solos don't exsist...THEY DO NOW. --- Nice silverburst in the backround. :D

  • bro you are so beasttt!!

  • once again thanx for sharing ...

  • Is this bridge or neck pickup?

  • all I else can say is, ROCK ON !

  • this is THE tone \m/

  • re-do 10,000 days :)

  • hey Brad, your sound is really great on this one, nice tone. The high ends are perfectly present.

  • @remiiiiiii Thanks Remi!!! I appreciate it. :)

  • i find this video very difficult to masturbate to.

  • Sounds like you've dialed in that tone a little more. Good shit!

  • Hello TOOLbassplayer! I've watched all your videos.I'm jealous of all this great equipment and especially this amazing Wal bass!UK's finest for sure!Your covers are great man well done and keep up the good work!

I'm posting because I have a simple, desperate question :) Are you using any effect to produce this amazing clear and a lil bit distorted sound at 1:00-2:10 ??????or is it only the wal and the amp?

  • @NoPussyBlues86 That's the Wal my friend :)

  • I think you had covered this before but defo without the intense vibe. Always good to see you still play it from the heart and not just another "cover video for youtube". Specially this particular tune.

  • can you please clarify the purpose of the hood? seriously.

  • @MacDaddyPooty I like hoods.

  • the king of bass!

  • Another great cover man, keep up the epic work!

  • well done.

  • Toolbassplayer you use the jesus tone

  • Man, I want a Wal so bad...and watching your videos isn't helping. I love my Alembic, though. Good job on the cover!

  • @TOOLbassplayer Great cover. I hope to see me from you. Got an offer for my Silvertone bass, about $90 for it. And one of my friends offered me an ibanez for it, maybe $80. Worthy trade?

  • Keep up the good work dude, looking forword to your next Tool. Watching your videos makes me want to pick up my bass even after I just put it down.

Also, 100 thumbs up and not one down!

  • i love yuor covers

  • I want your bass..

  • fucking love your videos

  • dude, your bass tone is epic :D

  • @deathstrikeRasputin Thanks. Although give the credit to the bass not me. :) The reason Justin's tone is so epic is mostly due to the Wal bass. ;-)

  • 5:04, a littttttttttttttttttttle mistake?

    :-)

  • @FABIANbassplayer Not a mistake as much as a botched transition. It is a very tricky transition (timing wise) and yes I did not execute it crisply. The good news is I quickly got back on track. I did not want to re-do the entire video because of one hiccup. :)

  • yes man! Bosten Celtics rule, The Patient rules and you rule as always.

Great cover of one of my favourite Tool songs!

    Keep on covering them.

And what about Liquid Tension Experiment. Do u listen to them? I think covers of their songs would be awesome!

  • Wow it has been a while. Welcome back glad you doing TOOL again!

  • Awesome cover! i believe it was flawless :P nice to see you doing covers again. first time in about 3 months.. hope you will be posting more awesome covers :)

  • Glad to see you back making covers man, keep up with the great songs!

  • So beautiful.

  • BOSTON

  • Awesome cover! Maybe you could do some songs by Gojira, Porcupine Tree, or Isis?

  • So i heard you like les paul customs.

  • best tool covers on yt, man... i wanna be you.

  • great cover brad, hey what distortion do u use at 3:29? Rat or GT2?

  • @rakk462 Thanks! I actually used Fuzz this time....the colorsound tone bender. Although Justin uses the GT2 for this part

  • Damn!! I missed that sweet sound of the Wal!!! and you know Brad, it's awesome as always!

  • amazing!!!!!! great job!!!

  • awesome sound great cover. REDSOX 4 ever.

  • Awesome cover as always! i believe it was completely flawless :) hope you will be postin more soon :D

  • Cool man, i always coulda swore that justin uses wah for the intro^^

  • @BigKahuna93 No he does it this way. He does not own a wah :)

  • @TOOLbassplayer Yes, no offence meant;) all i meant to say was that you've proven me wrong on that.

Im not a justin expert by any means^^

  • @BigKahuna93 no offense taken at all :)

  • Finally a new cover :) perfect as always! i believe that cover was abseloutely flawless!! hope you will be posting more soon

  • Man I'd love to see you do a cover of something really technical. That Wal bass would suit a Dillinger Escape Plan cover so well, and I bet it'd really test you ;) Great stuff man.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled Well I don't think I am a great bassist so I am not sure I will try something too technical. I don't have much time to play anymore :)

  • @TOOLbassplayer Hey if you say so, but you have not failed to impress me thus far.

  • yeah, brad! great cover! nice to see u again.

can u say something about mine tool covers? thank you!

  • what kind of effects do you use in the beginning for the bass?

  • @mackaus1 no effects. The bass is doing it. You see the knob I am twisting? The Wal bass as high frequency mid range sweep (with boost) and I am sweeping it manually so it sounds very similar to a wah. :) Hope that helps

  • @TOOLbassplayer thanks alot for the answer, i thought it sounded pretty cool :)

  • @TOOLbassplayer i didn't know a wal could do that, it sounds really cool. is this the way justin does it or did you only do it because you dont have a wah?

  • @zombiespacebat Thanks. This is how Justin does it :)

  • @TOOLbassplayer So that knob is really just a Mid Range Frequency?

  • @puppetmetal Yes...there are two tone knobs on the wal. They cover different ranges of frequencies...one is more low mids and this knob is more high mids/highs

  • That 5-string back there is pretttyyy. What kind is it?

  • @Telephantasssm Thanks. It is a Spector.

  • @TOOLbassplayer The Spector, would you mind doing a quick video showing us how it sounds? I have a EBMM Bongo 6 HH and am thinking about adding a Warwick or Spector 5 or 6 string and I can't find enough videos on Youtube demoing the sounds. :)

    -Tyler

  • *Great to see a new video from you man, keep on rockin'

  • Comment removed

  • Nice sound man.

  • I want that bass!!!! :E

  • Every time you make a video, I enter a Tool state in which I listen to them constantly and attempt to learn their songs once again! You are an inspiration to all bassists out there.

  • @JakeTheBassist91 Thank you. That is very kind of you. I am glad to help in any way I can :)

  • @JakeTheBassist91 Thank you for the very kind words. I try really hard to help where I can. If I can help out any Tool bass fan then I feel extremely accomplished of what I set out to do with these videos. Thanks again.

  • @TOOLbassplayer Hey bro, I'm like 3 years into bass right now I started kind of late, I'm 33yo but I can play some TOOL songs, like 15 of them, I can say that I wouldnt learn any of those if it wasn't for your tabs and videos, you are like my bass teacher, thanks man! keep the awesome work we are listening!

  • awesome job as always! Im almost surprised you havent covered every tool song with the amount you've done.

  • Fuck yeah, brother. Keep up the amazing work. Any plans for future videos?

  • sexeh tone is sexeh

  • good to u back woot!

    : )

  • @iPride4G unless you have a suggestion or a video of you playing the correct version, shut up!

  • @gregvoy The best tab on the net, in my opinion, is on Tooltabs. Nolan wrote the original and I cleaned it up a few years ago but some parts were still off (chorus around 3:00). I can promise you that what I am playing here is quite accurate. The bass in the lateralus album is mixed very low making this very difficult to decipher...

  • @TOOLbassplayer Oh I believe that you are playing it accurately! Tooltabs is basically my one-stop shop for Tool bass tabs, and I've yet to find one that I disagreed with. What I meant was if iPride4G had what he believed to be the "correct" version of the song, then he should post it. I was not implying that your version was incorrect, as I have always trusted your attention to detail when it comes to bass in Tool song. Great job btw!

  • @gregvoy i understand. Thanks for the kind words :)

  • IT says an error occured :O

  • I spy a 5 string!

  • Nice to see you back dude. Any new gear?

  • Did you do this one by ear or did you find the tabs for it? Also, how long did it take you to learn this one?

  • @Astrodude55 The only thing he does with tabs is laugh at how wrong they are. Do not question this man's tool bass knowledge!

  • @gogogogodzilla I'm questioning his knowledge, I'm asking to be enlightened. I have a tab of this and it's way off from what he's doing, hence why I asked.

  • @Astrodude55 I know, I was just being a smart ass, not trying to knock your comment/question. It's really nice to play bass and have this guy's knowledge and skill and to help mine. Good luck with the playing!

  • @Astrodude55 Read my profile :-)

  • been a while indeed. i fapped

  • Fuckin' sweet, love the sound of that eq sweep. Nicely done
