I like how he's running the bucket all the way into the greenhorns and point shiv's to get 1/4th a bucket. The guy needs to get in the face of the muck...lol. Not to mention he's only loading 1 sided? Must be a rookie.

@FUCKINROCKIT They run a wire to it from a generating station somewhere else on sight. You can see the two poles where the wire crosses over the haul road at 0:09
Electric shovels have the huge advantage of being very cheap to run and surprisingly enough are faster than a hydraulic machine of the same size. The downside to electric is that it lacks the breakout force of hyrdaulics and require well blasted material.
Give the guy a break. It takes a good while to get a handle on operating one of these shovels. At least he's not whipping the ropes and tearing the handrails off the boom.
he should be fired he not getting full loades in his bucket , it 3 scoopes of raisin bran then gone in less than 5 min in a 4100 loading 793 haul truck
thats sandbox mining if you want to see mining come here to labrador, you dont get this nice material to work with, you get hard rock mining, ie:boulders and absolutely no fine material plus the -50 temperatures make for a fun day changing hoist cables, try fixing a pit floor with what we have :)
this is not the biggest. the biggest can fell a truck up in two loads.

He's too far away from the face. He needs to track in a little closer because you can see the arm is at full reach.

So why use cable instead of hydrolic rams? I hear its better just havent heard the reasons.
Electric sure is nice and quite tho. We have diesel shovels at our mine and all you hear is those 2 v16 cummins just screaming.
