To be fair, this version of Mechanix sounds like it's live & it's significantly faster than the one on Killing is my Business. Although Dave plays Mechanix faster anyway, but this version is way too fast. It could also be from a demo.

The four horsemen sound nothing like a Mustaine song from the same period. They are two completely different sides of the same song, and while Dave wrote the chords and basic structure, Mustaine couldn't write a listenable song or sing to save his life and fortunately for the song itself, Metallica were there to straighten Mustaines shit out.

Four Horsemen wins. Metallica is my favorite band, but I love Megadeth too. Except Dave Mustfail fires his band members after every album... fail. Megadeth isn't even a band. It's really just Dave Mustaine's solo project, since he has a new band member for like every album.

I also just want to add how stupid these comparisons videos are. If you're just gonna play the music side by side it's going to just end up being a flame war between fanboys, saying one band is amazing and the other is shit, finding no middle ground. If you wan to actually COMPARE elements of the songs, such as tempo, or things added such as the bridge solo in the Four Horsemen, that's fine. But as it stands, it's just a huge troll fest.
I dont think Dave and James can be compared. Dave is more of a lead guitarist while James is a rithym guitarist. Both can be respected within their our terms... James has written some of the heaviest riffs in heavy metal. On the other side Dave has written some of the most remembered solos in heavy metal. However Dave has been very consistent in releasing albums while Metallica has been very consistent on stage.
While I agree that Dave is a great lead guitarist, he is first and foremost rhythm player, and an amazing one at that. He most of the songs / riffs in Megadeth, all of which are fucking amazing (and almost always more complex than Metallica rhythms). Megadeth has almost always been incredibly solid live (times when Dave was really drugged up it was a little rough, but aside from that...).

Very true. Dave is much more technical than both James with the riffs and Kirk with the solos. And Lars killed it especially on St. Anger with the terrible sounding steel percussion.

Mustaine did not write most of Metallica's early stuff. He helped write a handful of songs on Kill 'Em All and co write two songs on Ride The Lightning and that's a fact. He didn't write any Metallica songs after Ride The Lightning.

Hetfield is a brutally accurate rhythm player, and a great compliment to kirk's leads.
Dave is a great songwriter and can write very complicated material, though hetfield is a much better singer and rhythm player. Dave's solos arent bad, but Marty Friedman is simply godly, and his solos outshine Mustaine's.

The four horsemen sound nothing like a Mustaine song from the same period. They are two completely different sides of the same song, and while Dave wrote the chords and basic structure, Mustaine couldn't write a listenable song or sing to save his life and fortunately for the song itself, Metallica were there to straighten Mustaines shit out.

@mewmas yes i admit they are better if you look at the numbers. BUT lest not forget that megadeth have stuck to thier roots besides risk and that album was i thought pretty good as well Dave eats james for breakfast on the guitar and i dont see james holding the goldon god redward do you. And also thier music is much more comlex and thrash like and i dont know why the fuck metallica is still a considered a thrash band when there are far from that these days. Face it musicianship goes to dave

@mewmas I really dont know what makes you think kirk is better though. He is very overrated to todays standard of music. Just check out some of chrises videos on youtube and you will see what i mean. And chris's REAL talent lies away from megadeth. just do some youtube searching and you will see what i mean. Skill and music writing wise... Chirs is ten times better. You find me some proof to challenge me and i bet you run into a brick wall :)

Dave mustaine is the best and he's much better than james hetfield but i gotta say that Horseman is awesome and is better than mechanix.
But that means nothing,kill em all was a great record but megadeth has proved to be better than metalica.
Metallica could never release something like Rust in Peace.

@MCALL99 Actually I think both of them have ammzing skill, but for doing different things: Mustaine writes epic, fast, ripping solos and Hetfield writes these really really memorable melodic riffs. Nothing wrong with any of them, but still I think Megadeath by today are a lot better than Metallica, whereas back in the eighties they were on the same level.

Not a fair comparison! The Mechanix is a live version and is being played waaaay fast. The Mechanix is faster, but, much cleaner on the album. Love both bands, but, I gotta give it to Megadeth! Its heavier and just plain THRASH!!

Mechanix wins. Only thing that's better on the horsemen are the lyrics. Mechanix has an intro and a more complex starting riff, and it's double faster, and i like the solo better than horsemen

Four Horsemen wins. Metallica is my favorite band, but I love Megadeth too. Except Dave Mustfail fires his band members after every album... fail. Megadeth isn't even a band. It's really just Dave Mustaine's solo project, since he has a new band member for like every album.

I also just want to add how stupid these comparisons videos are. If you're just gonna play the music side by side it's going to just end up being a flame war between fanboys, saying one band is amazing and the other is shit, finding no middle ground. If you wan to actually COMPARE elements of the songs, such as tempo, or things added such as the bridge solo in the Four Horsemen, that's fine. But as it stands, it's just a huge troll fest.

I dont think Dave and James can be compared. Dave is more of a lead guitarist while James is a rithym guitarist. Both can be respected within their our terms... James has written some of the heaviest riffs in heavy metal. On the other side Dave has written some of the most remembered solos in heavy metal. However Dave has been very consistent in releasing albums while Metallica has been very consistent on stage.

While I agree that Dave is a great lead guitarist, he is first and foremost rhythm player, and an amazing one at that. He most of the songs / riffs in Megadeth, all of which are fucking amazing (and almost always more complex than Metallica rhythms). Megadeth has almost always been incredibly solid live (times when Dave was really drugged up it was a little rough, but aside from that...).

Very true. Dave is much more technical than both James with the riffs and Kirk with the solos. And Lars killed it especially on St. Anger with the terrible sounding steel percussion.

Mustaine did not write most of Metallica's early stuff. He helped write a handful of songs on Kill 'Em All and co write two songs on Ride The Lightning and that's a fact. He didn't write any Metallica songs after Ride The Lightning.

4 Horsemen absolutely better than Mechanix. Mechanix is just faster and it sounds stupid...plus it doesn't have the awesome part that horsmen has (2:01 in this video) BTW, Dave did not write any Metallica song in full. He has writing CREDITS, which means he made contributions. Metallica wasn't going to write all new songs. You have to remember that they fired his ass the same week they were gonna record KEM.

Hetfield is a brutally accurate rhythm player, and a great compliment to kirk's leads.
Dave is a great songwriter and can write very complicated material, though hetfield is a much better singer and rhythm player. Dave's solos arent bad, but Marty Friedman is simply godly, and his solos outshine Mustaine's.

I agree. although i wouldn't say het is better at rhythm. they're both pretty accurate, but hetfield's singing doesn't suffer as much while playing a difficult rhythm. although for the most part, mustaine's riffs are probably a tad more complicated. they're both great
and yeah, marty was probably megadeth's best lead player, but both the chris's are pretty good too XP
