@procrastin8r89 Isn't he a sweetheart? I met him once, just kind of ran into him on the street and went "oh wow!" and started chatting. He offered pics and autographs to us (we didn't have to feel intrusive by asking) and then he offered suggestions for restaraunts for dinner. lol. He's such an incredible man, speaking in terms of acting, singing and personality.
Is there anything he can't do?!?! Seriously... Adam is phenominal and this is just....mindblowing. Not the typical Phantom style of course...but its Adam. :) Its amazing....I love it!
authorgirl87 was right.... how could anyone resist this? :P
I already go fangirl over Adam. This is my favorite version of Music of the Night. If he became Phantom I'd fly out to New York and see him. And possible die in my chair from his sexiness.
wow! He's actually not too far off from sounding like the phantom. The soft parts of the song are wonderfully sung by him, he just needs to develop more of an operatic tone for the lower notes and faster parts of the song.
But he doesn't have the voice of the phantom. He is much more rock and roll, and the phantom is supposed to be more operatic. He'd be great singing a rock version of this song, but if you look at Michael Crawford and John Cudia, you can immediately tell the difference in their voice types. Also, Adam's head voice to me is just... too weak for this song.
He's more fitted for Raoul - Not that I'd cast him as that role. Still, he's a great singer.
While I agree his head voice sounds very weak here, it's mainly due to him trying to give it a more operatic feel. When he goes to his high voice there is a lot of roughness there usually. Having seen him in RENT live, it's very true when he hits high notes. He can belt them out, just not with a clear opera type voice.
So his head voice can be belted, just not when he's trying not to sound like a rock singer.
this would have been an awesome audio without the laughing :| and for someone who's purposely trying to be funny (obv, the people were laughing) his vocals were AMAZING.
I get tired of people glorifying him... he's a great actor, but not the best singer--especially for a movie that intimate to your singing style. The phantom is supposed to have an "angelic" voice... Gerard Butler is way too guttural.
I love Adam, but he's not my first choice for phantom. Raul, maybe, but not Phantom. It's a pitch thing. Even though he's not exactly being serious here.... =)
by the way that the audience laughs whenever he gets all intense, he's probably being over-dramatic on purpose rather than being serious. no decent audience would do that with cruel intentions, and they seem to like him at the end!
Hm...this makes me thinks maybe I will post a part of the rest of the interview when I get a chance..... but yes the Chatterbox events are a bit more casual than a typical concert or performance, so we're all laughing with him, not at him :D LOL

That isn't a vibrato; it's a wobble:(
I didn't like it. However, he was alright in Rent. But this is awful. I never thought that anyone could come so close to ruining "Music of the Night" for me.
I disagree. There were the same grumblings when Adam played Freddie in two "Chess" concert benefits, as well as the Emcee in "Cabaret - the Revival". Yet, he proved the nay-sayers wrong and played the roles exceptionally well.
For being sprung on him, I think he sang "Music of the Night" quite well. It's a difficult song to sing. If he were given any rehersal time with the song (and the show), he could easily surpass the other actors I've seen in this role.

*shudder* That's just not good. I mean, I love him, I've seen him in two shows, but... no. This part just doesn't fit him, vocally nor acting-wise. (That said, I'd see him in it. Because it would be hilarious.)
OMG i have waited for a year to hear him sing this!!!! the day he gets the part(Hopefully soon) I WILL BE THERE!!!! if idina menzel got to sing don't cry for me argentina then he should be allowed to sing this song.
A definite new take on the Phantom, but WoW. Sexiest. Phantom. EVER?? YES please!!

Personally i don't see Adam as much of a Phantom...I think a more classical/operatic voice is needed for the part.
Adam is still amazing though don't get me wrong...one of my favorite singers!

I was going to say I agree with you at the beginning of the video before I heard the song, then I changed my mind. He sounded phenomenal.

He has an amazing voice and could sing the phone book (and I'd love it) but he couldn't play the Phantom. His voice is too contemporary.

I may want phantom though over the phone book hahaha :D

I adore Adam with all of my heart.
But he does not have a smooth enough voice to play the Phantom.
He's too rough.
Gerard Butler in the movie was too "rock-ish" as it was.
I love you Adam, but stick to contemporary Broadway. :D
