Actually the DK with the tie is Donkey Kong Junior grown up. I think the original Donkey Kong became Kranky Kong or something like that.

Instruction Manuel, it says that Cranky Kong (the original DK) is the GRANDFATHER

of the Donkey Kong we know and love today. So technically, the one "with the tie"

is what I might call Donkey Kong III

@richard120473 No, the arcade Donkey Kong did become Crankey Kong, but donkey kong juinor did not become Donkey Kong with a tie. Crankey Kong's grandson became Donkey Kong with a tie. Donkey Kong Jounior's son is Donkey Kong with a tie.

@720Relapse Remember, the only imagery of Mario we had was from the arcade game, which wasn't very big in the graphic department, so they created the design for the show. Give them some credit though, he is voiced by Optimus Prime after all.
