I have loved hockey since I was 6 years old, back around 1971. I tend to agree with them on some points, hockey is not the same game as it was when I grew up, you would fight some guy because you hated his guts, lol. Now when you see a fight, two guys agree to it, they take off their helmets, they start playing stupid music in the arena, that is not passion for your teammates and I do think that 99% of the time, it is staged, and not spontaneous, where passion would come into it

fighting is important for the balance of hockey in general. it prevents hits on your top scorer, protects the goalie, and in certain situations energizes your team when your down or playing slothful. they take fighting out of hockey, you watch hockey will fall apart.

If there was a sign on the way into the arena saying "X fights Y, 14 minutes 8 seconds into the third", the entire arena would be counting down the seconds. It may not have the same momentum/motivation impact a real fight has, but saying its a waste of time for the fans is just false.
