@bartletbrooks Competition means winners and losers. I'd love to hear people who argue for competition name some of the children they are willing to sacrifice as "lost."
LIFE has "winners & losers"! When foolish teachers refuse to teach that basic FACT to children, those children become non-competitive, LOSER adults who are rewarded for being dependant on FORCED taxpayers "charity". They lose ALL self-esteem and ALL hope of EVER reaching the dream of doing better than their parents. This is made WORSE by the "Progressive" income tax which punishes success!
Progressivist Statism breeds Dependance & Failure which harms ALL of humanity!
@ClixDis If you're willing to sacrifice children to gov't and union monopoly, they you must be part of that monopoly and therefore FEAR competition.
If we continue to do what we have always done, we will continue to get what we have always gotten.
US Failing schools teaching US failing children who become US failing adults who are dependand on the forced charity of US taxpayers. Meanwhile, employers move overseas or import people with the job skills that US teachers FAILED to teach!
@yakyakyak69 I support cooperation, which does not require losers and therefore does not need to sacrifice children, as you seem so ready to do. I suppose yes, I *do* fear sacrificing children, which is a direct result of enforced competition. I find it sickening that anyone would support that.
@ClixDis Remember, most of these children who you REFUSED to prepare for REAL LIFE competion leave the wing of school collectivism and FAIL to compete and get a good non-union job will end up depending on the taxpayers. Welfare or Prison... that's where they are heading.
Why are YOU sacrificing children so YOU can earn MORE TAXPAYER MONEY?
@yakyakyak69 Unlike private schools, public schools do not REFUSE to prepare students. Private schools can choose who they want to enroll and can kick out students who do not perform well.
@ClixDis Correct! Progressives use gov't to TAKE as much as they can from those "evil capitalist" job creators in society. Progressives are GREEN with ENVY so they LOOT from the "rich" keeping as much as they can while playing the "good guy" by giving some of their stolen loot to others.
It's like the mob boss supporting charity because it makes him look good.
Did I use "Mob Boss" in the same context as "Progressive" or "Collectivist" or Marxist or ANTI-Liberty "Liberal"?
@yakyakyak69 Right, because the saintly "job creators" NEVER try to influence government policy in their favor.
In 1970, CEOs made $25 for every $1 the average worker made. Due to technological advancements, production and profit levels exploded from 1970 - 2000. An in-depth study in 2004 on the explosion of CEO pay revealed that, including stock options and other benefits, CEO pay is more accurately $500 to $1.
Again, Redistribution (individual or corporate), the EVIL child of Hubris & Envy is Pandora's Box, when opened it makes SLAVES of the taxed, DEPENDANTS of the recipients, TYRANTS of the powerful and CRONIES of the politicians all in the name of "helping" some by enslaving others.
Why does it matter to you WHAT the CEOs make?
The problem is that gov't CAN redistribute from and to anybody who they choose including YOU!
@yakyakyak69 Blah de blah de blah. The greater the wealth gap, the greater the social unrest. You might realize that if you weren't yakking so much. And it's because CEOs choose to line their pockets rather than create jobs. Redistribution provides support in times of disaster, shared treasures like libraries and parks, and opportunities for work.
The gov't distributes wealth as the electorate allows it to.
Liberty & Democracy can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury.
After 100 years of "progressive" redistribution, over 50% of the people have become addicted to and dependant upon feeding at the public trough. The social unrest is because that trough is empty.
Politicians buy power OVER the people with the money they steal from the makers to buy votes from the takers.
@yakyakyak69 Actually, the politicians have been giving the money to the capitalists, who own the media and thus are able to put out whatever propaganda they want, deceiving the voting public into continuing to support the same politicians.
The social unrest is because the public is seeing through the capitalist media screen.
@ClixDis Those who take taxpayer money are Crony-Corporatists NOT "capitalist"! They use Progressive crony-politicians to steal (redistribute) from the taxpayers.
Redistribution is Progressive Statism!
"Fascism should rightly be called [crony] CORPORATISM, as it is the merger of CORPORATE and GOVERNMENT.” ~ Benito Mussolini
Adolph Hitler (a Fascist) was the leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party which was the 1920's Progressive leader in Germany.
@yakyakyak69 Have you read Alice in Wonderland? Because you're using words like Humpty-Dumpty does, and it's quite frustrating.
Go ahead and run for office, or elect someone who supports your views, or move to a country that somehow sustains itself on those views. Good luck. Really.
"Teaching in America right now is operating on economies of love and sacrifice."
If you really LOVE the children, STOP striking to gain more money for YOURSELF and let FREE COMPETITION produce the very BEST schools.
If you REALLY love the children. Go do ANYTHING and STOP teaching your form of Collective dependance on what crony politicians can steal from others. You are creating ANOTHER generation of thumb-sucking co-dependant forever-children just like YOU!
@yakyakyak69 Just FYI, teachers' unions ask for things that help CHILDREN, like funding for libraries, for arts and sports programs, for staff development, field trips, safe transportation... the list goes on and on.
Getting the government out of education means that MOST CHILDREN would be uneducated, as MOST of the cost of public education is paid for by those who do not have children in school. Many parents cannot afford private education, and that would not change if public ed was gone.
@yakyakyak69 Ignore the facts all you want, but you are still wrong. Unions are about people working together (but apparently that is a bad thing). Yes, teacher unions really do push for increased funding for school libraries.
Vouchers? But that would involve WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION! Surely you're against that.
@ClixDis Ignore the facts all you want, but you are still wrong. Unions are about people working together to TAKE as much as as they can just like the mobs just did in London. Take all you can by force is what union teachers are telling our children... by example!
Education is NOT listed in the Constitution, so the Federeal gov't has NO right to meddle... period!
Vouchers? Yes, I'm against ALL forms of marxist redistribution, however vouches are FAR better than ANY gov't monopoly!
@yakyakyak69 Education is primarily handled by the states, not the federal government. As it's not in the constitution, it's one of the responsibilities delegated to the states. And I certainly agree that the federal government's meddling has been harmful rather than helpful.
Clearly you know nothing about unions. Teachers benefit from being able to work in schools that treat students well. Since treating students well helps teachers, teachers' unions push for schools to treat students well.
@yakyakyak69 If, as you suggest, schools were not supported by taxes, only the wealthiest parents would be able to afford to educate their children. Other countries whose schools do well on international exams? They have government-supported schools. A good education is expensive, and the market shows that quite clearly.
@ClixDis That's why I'm willing to comprimise on the Vouchers for Competion. Are you willing to throw out union monopoly? You must support Scott Walker!
@ClixDis The "progressive" politicians are the crony-corporatists with the power to "redistribute" and "regulate" for "justice" and "fairness". These "liberal" politicians of BOTH sides of the "big gov't" party are simply cronies to their powerful "special interest" backers such as corporations, unions and other lobbiests who trade HUGE campaign "contributions" for taxpayer money promoting regulation which KILLS free competition and harms our children by keeping BAD teachers and FAILED schools.
@yakyakyak69 Wait, you think progressives are the ones who handed out all those billions to the failed private-sector enterprises? The money that was then handed out to CEOs as bonuses? If you're going to ignore facts, I can only hope you don't vote. It is the GOP that consistently backs legislation that grants tax cuts for the super-rich while cutting services to the middle and working class.
"Progressivism is a political attitude favoring or advocating changes or reform through governmental action."
There are Statist Progressives on BOTH sides of the isle in our ONE "Big Gov't" party system!
Both the Democrat-Progressives and the NeoCon-Progressives use the power of gov't to "redistribute" taxpayer labor to THEIR political backers. BOTH parties steal & redistribute to GIANT Corporations and other "special" interest political backers.
@yakyakyak69 Well, I definitely agree that lately, Democrats as well as Republicans have been toadying to corporate interests. However, my earlier point stands: the clearest correlation to poor test scores is poverty.
Redistribution (individual or corporate), the EVIL child of Hubris & Envy is Pandora's Box! When opened redistribution makes SLAVES of the taxed, DEPENDANTS of the recipients, TYRANTS of the powerful and CRONIES of the politicians all in the name of "helping" some by enslaving others.
Redistribution breaks up families & communities who no longer depend upon each other and instead become dependant on gov't. Redistribution INCREASES generational poverty!
@yakyakyak69 Right, because cutting support services certainly improves matters. It's worked so well for Britain... OH WAIT. Reducing social welfare actually INCREASED poverty and destroyed people's sense of hope and community, creating instead the sense "the government doesn't help me and treats me like a criminal for walking down the street, so why should I keep playing by its rules?"
@ClixDis Google: "The 10 Biggest Corporate Campaign Contributors in US Politics. BOTH sides of the Isle get HUGE amounts of corporate money because these companies KNOW that the power to redistribute is the power to steal and the ability to be corrupted by CRONY-CORPORATISM!
The MAJORITY of corporate money goes to Democrats because they are MORE WILLING to spend other people's money to gain power, but STATISTS in BOTH parties are CORRUPT.
I wish Diane Ravitch would come to Toronto and talk to some of our educational leaders!

A lot of those women are retired teachers! Working for free! For the common good of the society!
God bless the hard, working dedicated teachers who many times go far and beyond the call of duty!
