@funkflash Nah, it's all about the hook, where all the funk comes to a speedy halt and all you hear is the piano ringing out and "Where do we go from here..you know baby...". Killer.
it's a real bassline played by nick fyffe, the music was recorded to computer for editing and arrangement purposes. synth bass was used on canned heat, planet home, destitute illusions. that type of sound.
Because Jay Kay, is a funny guy, and sometimes he sings with a sense of humour. That part is little bit exaggerated, but it's voluntarily, that's why it's funny.
Actually, if you compare these lyrics to any of the songs from their last 2 albums, this song is gold... if you look at it that way. And lyrics aren't just about content, they have to fit within the restrictions of the rhythm and be infectious enough to sing along with. So in that case, they succeed. But anyway, like some other people have said, this song does kick you in the netherregions if you're not ready for it. That breakdown is the sickest one they've ever done.
Wow, this is impresive, I'm also considering buying a basguitar because of this good band, although it inspired me from their other song "travelling without moving". Check it out.
that bassline in the chorus kicks those who aren't expecting it in their f-ing balls. Period. This is in my top-5 favorite bands of all time! Go Kamirojaj!

I think this song some how links with my Heatwave(Grove Line, Boogie Nights) memories from early childhood. I wish I could put my finger on it .
I used to skip this song before I heard this part.
But right after he says "You know baby" @ 1:13-1:30 and again @ 2:28-3:30
Now this is my favourite song next to "When you gonna Learn"
Dijitol 3 years ago 4
definitely has the heatwave/mj 'off the wall' album feel from rod temperton and quincy jones, agree 100%.
