  • I have never seen this serios before. I thank you very much for uploading it. It is very good, I enjoyed it very much and I am sorry that I have to part with the characters now ;)

  • Thanks for this. I was at public school in Edinburgh when the beginning of this series was filmed at neaby Fettes. I was transfixed by the whole series, but inevitably missed some of it, partly because we had to ask permission to watch TV on a Sunday afternoon. It actually made more sense to me now at 45; I always wondered why it wasn't more popular at the time. I felt quite emotional through some of it, particularly as one of my late school friends had a cottage in Bamburgh and lived in N'casle

  • All i can say is thank you, this was great, how i wish it could go on.........thank you

  • I watched this programme in the 1980s but I never saw the last episode. Thank you SOOO much for posting the whole series which I have just finished watching again - at last I know how it ended!!

  • @suemcoy When this was screened on Australian TV, when I was a teenager, I remmeber writing in my diary after the second last episode something like "final episode of Barriers tomorrow. What if I DIE before I watch it? Oh no!" or some such nonsense. So I know how you felt. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to upload this series! It is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

  • where can i watch the whole series in its entirety,i'd love to watch it fom the very first episode to the final one,i was in hospital when this episode aired and thanks to a mean old lady on the ward i missed the final show, but to think i could see it all again would be great,if i cant watch it in full at least i now know the ending, its taken almost 30yrs for me to know the end an now i do,thanks so much for putting it up

  • @karenviolent Have you noticed that the entire series is on this channel? thanks for the comment.

  • First watched this when I was about 10 and have been looking for it for years. So great to be able to watch it again. Thank you for taking the time to upload it all. Barriers was the first thing I saw Ben Taylor in and I've been a fan ever since. Met him a few years ago and we talked about the series. He was lovely. Thanks again.

  • Amazing story. I've really enjoyed this.

  • It's over, all over. Amazing. Thank you so much for this, what am I going to do with my Sunday afternoons now??

  • Thanks for that, It's good to know that some people are actually watching it all the way through, after all the time it took to upload. As for your Sunday afternoons, can't help you with that one. As you have discovered, Barriers doesn't really resemble any other program (not that I can think of anyway) so it's hard to think of how to fill the gap. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.

  • @Toddysfins

Hi there! I have waited 30 years for this.

I first watched the series as a teenager in the UK when it was first shown in the early 1980's. I was so captivated, the name Barriers stuck with me all these years. I became quite a fan of Benedict Taylor. I'm surprised he isn't more of a house hold name.

I have just sat through and watched all the episodes and I could easily watch them all again.

Many thanks for taking the time to upload the entire series. You're a star!

  • @MyRose43 This is the sort of response I was hoping for when I uploaded it. Glad you enjoyed it. Benedict Taylor has a youtube channel called BenTheBee; why don't you send him a message telling him how fondly you remember it? I feel guilty that I'm getting all these nice remarks when I had nothing to do with the program but uploading it. If you have trouble finding his channel, look at the comments posted against Part One of Barriers - he's put one there so you can find it that way. Cheers.

  • Attn Toddysfins

Thanks so much for posting these series ... I watched "Barriers" on French TV (1982) and never missed an episode ... till I left for Germany the same year. Always wondered if Billy had at last found the answer, either side of the Iron Curtain ! ...

    Good memories indeed,

    Cheers ;-)

  • However, Google is a wonderful tool. I searched "Austro-Hungarian border" & "parents killed" and that led me to a website about Benedict Taylor, the lead actor. That gave me the name "Barriers" and led me here. I have never seen the final episode before today, and have often thought about this series an wondered how it ended.

Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • Thanks for the nice remarks. I'm glad you found it. I've now put 'Austro-Hungarian border' in the tags for Part One.

  • Recently, I heard the theme from this series on the radio. It stirred a faint memory, but I couldn't pin it down. Then yesterday, I was watching a doco about the murder of 200 Jews near the Austro-Hungarian border. The term "Austro-Hungarian border" was an epiphany. I remembered the story of a young man looking for what happened to his birth parents. I couldn't remember the name of the series or the actor, only the storyline and the bit about Austria and Hungary.
